Final Fantasy Series
By Akwende a.k.a. Colin Branch
Note. the "?" will be replaced when I decide on the names of my games.
Here are some snap shots of my first FF game. Final Fantasy "?" 1

The first game is totally original and sets the stage for the second game. It stars 3 original main characters and several NPCs.
The Battle engine was designed to be similar to the ones in FF1, FF2(jp), & FF3(jp) all for the venerable NES. The background in this pic is the plains. There is also forest, beach, town, cave, dungeon, and !underwater!. There is a random monster generator for each battle with over 45 (so far) differend possible battles) in only one board. The characters are large so animation is not implimented yet.
Fight!
In the world and towns the party is a single
character with the standard walking animation.
World 1
However in buildings I used a two char character similar to the one in the inspiring Bernard The Bard by Jeremy Lemar and Draconic Creations. I also included the ability to change that character you control, like pressing select in the real FF games, by pressing C. Each character has a different color body and their own individual head.
There are three towns now but in the end there will be about seven.
Town 1
Other feature that is complete is the inventory screen, items. (no pic yet). I used a slot system of storing any item in a defined variable. This allows there it be a very large number of possible items. So far there are 28 weapons ranging from swords to axes and over 40 different types of armor. Each has a name and different atrributes. Also the type of weapon effects how the large player appears in combat. Unfortunately as of now the inventory system has only 10 slots plus slots for armor and weapons for each of the three characters. This restiction is due to large amount of counters needed and the amount of code it takes to program in new slots. However there should not be a problem filling up slots because items like potions there is one slots for "x" number of potions.
THE BIGGEST MISSING THING!
The largest thing missing in my first game is magic. It is the only thing missing. I first felt that including a magic system would be too complicated, btw it is, for this game, but now I am also integrating the lack of magic into the story. Don't worry, in the sequel there will be magic!!
Final Fantasy "?" 2
The second game, which I actually started first rejoins characts spread across all the Final Fantasy's. From FF7 there is Cloud and Barret, from FF3 or FF6(jp) there is Terra and Lock, and from FF2 or FF4(jp) there is Kaine. So far these are the characters but there may be more added or subtracted. The story for this game is very complex and involves all the characters. This was hard to due because I had to beat each of these games in order to have a complete understanding of each character. This game will be much more complex then the previous one and will push the MZXS1B's 1000 counters to the limit.
Graphicly compared to my first game it is like the difference between FF3 and FF7. The over world, while directly overhead, has a 3-D atmosphere since the player char zooms in and out as it's altitude increases and decreases.

Each of the towns also have a 3-D isometric look to them. Features in town also include active lighting. When the character walks under a street light of window light he becomes that color. Also all slinted buildings are surrounded by robots that will make the place move diagonal alone the side of the building. This allows for quick moving around town.

The status screen is working however there is no inventory system yet implemented. Included in there stats of a character is a *very* large picture of the character drawn by yours truely, they were not copied from the game and adjusted to b&w. I did have help looking at full color pics of them thoe for the right dimensions and shading.

The least worked on in this game is the battle engine. It will look similar to the battle engine in my first game, same large pics of characters. But other than that I don't no yet. Hopefully I will be able to make it similar to the battles in FF3 & FF7 with an active counter, the independence of robots will allow this.
Music #a b c d e f g For both my Games
Unfortunately I am note a composer so I am using music from all the previous FF games I can find. I will give credit to the composers in the games. The music works rather well especially the battles which has a random music generator as well that plays the music for FF2 FF3 FF5(jp) and FF7. But I am still lacking music for some towns and situations.
Please E-mail me with your responce to my infomation and pics. Suggests are always welcome. I anyone is interested in participating in either project feel free to ask. I am interested in people who know Final Fantasy, can program with efficiency, also are good mzx animators. Also I need music so if any one can provide mods or services to create them I would be very interested. If you are reading this that means you read the whole page and I thank you for your time.
