Here's a bunch of cool info on Pokémon 2: Gold and Silver, soon to be coming out in the US!
Some of this info came from Pikachu's Pokémon Centre so do this person a favor and visit her website which is (maybe :) better than this one! ^_^
Some American names of new Pokémon: (Some are not confirmed yet!)

There is also this Pokémon: Buru. It is not confirmed (yet) what this Pokémon's American name will be, but it will probably be Bruno.
More Info:
Pokémon Gold/Silver will have 250 + Pokémon! Some will be male and some will be female, just like the two Nidorans. NOTE: this does not mean that ALL Pokémon have both genders, only some. But the cool thing about this is that it is possible to breed Pokémon! It is unknown yet if cross-breeding is possible, but the regular breeding with two Pokémon of the same species is confirmed.
Also, Pokémon will be nocturnal or diurnal. This means you will have to wait for a certain time of day for certain Pokémon to come out.
Plus, there is a NEW mode of transportation: the skateboard. Not sure exactly how it works but in addition to the Bike, now you can travel on skateboard.
This game is coming out for Game Boy Color, and is not backwards compatible.
The one bad thing about this is that Pokémon Red and Blue are not compatible with the newer versions. If you trade a Pokémon from Gold or Silver to Red or Blue, it will be "downgraded". For example, if you trade a Pikablu to a Red or Blue cart, it will become a Pikachu because that is all the game knows. But you will be able to trade Pokémon FROM a Red/Blue cart TO a Gold/Silver without any problem.
You will need a complete Red or Blue game to complete your Pokédex in the Gold and Silver versions.
