The hottest new TCG (or in layman's terms, Tradable Card Game) to hit North America is - you guessed it - Pokémon. In this game by Wizards of the Coast (famous for Magic: the Gathering) the object is to knock out 6 of your opponent's Pokémon. Each of your own Pokémon has one or more attacks, there are also Trainer cards which are like instants in Magic (they do something once and are then discarded) and Energy cards, which give your Pokémon energy to attack.
In an effort to simplify the game, there are 7 types of Pokémon, instead of the standard 15. The types are: Grass, Fire, Water, Electric, Psychic, Fighting, and Normal, or Colorless. Flying Pokémon are classified as Normal for the game; as are Dragon Pokémon. Rock and Ground Pokémon fit into the Fighting group. Poison and Bug are Grass. Ghosts are Psychic for the purposes of the game, and as of now, there are no Ice Pokémon.
