It gets you no where! Believe me you would be better off staying here a spell and listening to me trying to explain 'live action role play' very badly! For all those who already understand what larp is, and may just be about to cringe! Yes I do realise that there are many different types of larp, but for simplicity I have just described between the worlds type.
Well here goes. Between the worlds is a 'live action role play' club, which strangely enough means that we do 'live action role play' or 'larp'. In very basic terms it is a mix of improvisational acting and medieval re-enactment! With me so far? Good : )
This means that we get dressed up in medieval costume and go out in a large field and pagger the hell out of each other with big swords. Only larp swords are a little different to re-enactment swords. They use real ones and ours are made of closed cell foam and latex! This means we don't have to be dressed head to toe in inch thick metal, although some larpers do any way. This is because our weapons don't remove limbs when they hit an un-armoured combatant.
Each player has a character (most players have more than one) which they 'play'. Every character has a number of abilities, advantages and disadvantages. The player than has to use there character to interact with other characters of monster, be it verbal or a little more on the physical level (like running them trough with your blade). Depending upon how well your character interacts with others you will be awarded experience points, and remember 'points mean prises'. In this instance your prise is and advancement in your characters skills and abilities.
Ok, got all that? Right well! Your character exists in what is know as 'the campaign world'. This is an imaginary place that the characters and monsters can interact with and influence. In between the worlds this land is rich with weird and wonderful races and species of legend and some that you may never have herd of. The campaign world much like the real world has many problems, all be them very different to those of reality! However your character is in the position to directly influence those problems and situation, and it is how well you do this that decides whether you character live our dies.
I think that does it! You are either completely confused or you are know in the know! Which ever you are you should come and give it ago! Trust me you will enjoy!
Why not have a read of some of our canpaign book and get an idea about what our world is like!
