Your Angel

Part 4

"YOU DO’AHO!!!"

Sakuragi winced. He watched as Youhei paced frantically in front of him.

"Stupid!! Mindless!! Crazy!! Have you gone insane, Sakuragi Hanamichi??!!" Youhei had dropped into Sakuragi’s room a few minutes ago and he had been yelling at Sakuragi ever since.

"What in the world did you think you were doing??!!!" Youhei shouted again at Sakuragi, " You were supposed to look after him!! If something had happened, I would’ve been blamed for not guiding you correctly!!"

"But it was my fault!" Sakuragi exclaimed, leaning back against the sofa.

"Of course it was!! And I would’ve gotten the blame!!" Youhei shouted, exasperated.

"I don’t get it." Sakuragi said, crossing his arms.

Youhei sighed and stopped pacing. Sakuragi looked up from where he was seated, his eyes questioning. "Sakuragi…things are different here..in..in this place." Youhei said.

"Explain it then." Sakuragi replied, then, patting at the seat next to him, "Sit down, you’re making me feel dizzy."

Youhei sighed again but took the seat beside Sakuragi. Sakuragi placed a comforting arm around him. "What’s wrong, Youhei?" Sakuragi asked softly.

"You don’t understand…when you become someone’s guardian angel, you are responsible for his or her’s actions." Youhei began, resting his head on Sakuragi’s shoulder, "You’re the one who ‘guided’ the person through life…and whatever he or she becomes, is really up to you."

"So what you’re saying is…if I had done anything wrong or bad…it would be because of you?" Sakuragi asked.

"Techinically, yes." Youhei answered.

Sakuragi was silent for awhile. Youhei kept his head on Sakuragi’s shoulder, finally feeling at peace.

"How long do we get to be guardian angels?" Sakuragi asked, breaking the silence.

Youhei hesitated before answering, "There is no time limit to being a guardian. You’ll always be their guardian."

"You belong to me and I belong to you." Sakuragi said, smiling at Youhei.

Youhei smiled in reply, drawing himself close to Sakuragi. Sakuragi held Youhei in a tight embrace, burying his face in Youhei’s hair. "Thanks for everything." Sakuragi whispered softly.

"You’re welcome." Youhei said, sighing in content as he closed his eyes, returning Sakuragi’s embrace. They stayed that way for awhile before Sakuragi broke the embrace by saying that he had to go check on Rukawa.

"I said that dinner would probably around eight. He might be waiting for me." Sakuragi said, letting go of Youhei, "Are you going to leave?"

"Yeah, I spent a much longer time here then I had expected to. I’d better got too. Be a good angel, Sakuragi." Youhei said, smiling as he got up from the sofa. Wings were formed on Youhei’s back, then stretched out. Youhei waved good-bye before jumping out the window and disappearing into the night.

"Why are you late, Youhei-kun?" Mayumi asked as Youhei appeared.

Youhei ignored her and went straight towards the glass ball. Mayumi sighed and walked over to him.

"Did you tell him?" Mayumi asked.

"No." Youhei answered, his eyes now glued to the object in front of him.

Mayumi sighed in exasperation. "Why didn’t you?" Mayumi asked, anger rising inside of her, "You had the perfect opportunity to tell him and you totally blew it!!"

"It’s not that simple Mayumi-san." Youhei said, his voice quiet, "He just thinks of me as a friend."

"How do you know? He iddn’t tell you anything, did he?" Mayumi asked again.

Youhei stayed quiet, watching Sakuragi’s image intently.

"Youhei…," Mayumi moaned, taking a seat next to him.

Sakuragi knocked on Rukawa’s door. "Rukawa-san, we’re going out for dinner!" Sakuragi said.

There was a ‘click’ before the door was opened and a very sleepy-looking Rukawa appeared. "What?" Rukawa asked.

"I said, we’re going out for dinner. So get ready." Sakuragi said, turning away from the door. Rukawa nodded to himself before closing his door again.

A few minutes later….

"Rukawa-san!! Where are you?!" Sakuragi shouted up the stairs.

"I’m here." Rukawa replied, his voice cool.

Sakuragi looked a bit annoyed as he hurried towards the door. "Come on, aren’t you hungry?" Sakuragi demanded, holding out the door.

Rukawa shrugged as he walked past Sakuragi and out of the house. Sakuragi also got out, locked the door, and kept the key in his pocket as they made their way down the empty streets.

"Where are we eating?" Rukawa asked.

"I dunno….some place that’s not too expensive." Sakuragi replied, smiling, " Maybe…McD?"

Rukawa snickered.

In the end they ended up eating at McDonalds, Sakuragi finishing five Big Mac’s and Rukawa, a Fillet-o-Fish. When they walked out the restaurant…

"Why didn’t you eat much?" Sakuragi asked, admiring a house as they walked back home.

"Didn’t want to spend too much." Rukawa answered.

"Is that it? Why didn’t you ask me then? I would’ve bought you something….come on, let’s go buy something for you." Sakuragi said, running back to the restaurant.

"Sakuragi…no.." Rukawa started, but didn’t get to finish what he was about to say.

Sakuragi had gone into the restaurant and came out with a bag full of burgers. He handed it to Rukawa. "Here, you have to eat, you know." Sakuragi said, smiling.

Rukawa looked inside the bag. It would be enough to last him an entire week! Still, no one had ever bought anything special for him…much less care for him.., so this was a bit of a change. Rukawa looked back at Sakuragi’s grinning face. "Arigatou." Rukawa replied softly.
