Slideboard preparation The first thing I do is position my chair next to the bed.  I take my shirt off, then flip my armrest back.  I grab the slide board by the strap and start it under my leg.
Slideboard positioning I start the board under my leg with the strap.  After it is stuck, I reach over and pull it the rest of the way in by grabbing the end with my wrist.
Positioning 1 After the board is slid in, I position my right hand on the arm rest and my left hand on the board.  I wear my push cuffs for the extra traction.
Transfer 1 I push down on the board to help lift my butt into the air.  My feet stay positioned where they normally would be.
Transfer 2 I lean forward and push forward and to the left at the same time.  Leaning forward unweights my butt making it easier to slide.
Transfer 3 When my butt is most of the way across I push myself back into a sitting position.
Transfer 4 I reach back around the siderail and push off the tire to get my butt the rest of the way over.
Transfer done Whew ... I'm there.  Now I fall back onto my elbows my aide throws my feet on the bed.   I scoot up as far as I can until my elbows give out then raise the foot end of the bed and push off the side rails to finish positioning myself.  If my hips need to be moved my aide will move them.
