The pendant was tarnished black from the passing of the centuries.  "If this pendant was gold it would still have a shine on it since gold doesn't tarnish."  She thought.  "Maybe old Uukbah didn't want to make something too obvious."  Iris could not shine the copper trinket up.  The pendant was an artifact, an ancient piece of history.  It had to stay as discovered.  However, she could make a copy of it.  Iris got some quick drying putty and made a mold from the actual pendant.  She then poured into the mold a liquid ceramic.  She waited about an hour to let it dry and then opened the mold.  Now she had an exact copy of the pendant.  Next, Iris coated the ceramic with glue and attached strips of gold foil to it.  After the glue dried, she rubbed the foil smooth and polished it until she had a shiny representation of what the real pendant would have looked like when Uukbah first wore it.

With noontime only ten minutes away, Iris moved the table and map outside the tent.  She next aligned the map to true north and south to make its orientation geologically accurate.  "I hope this little idea of mine works, I hope I'm on the right track."  Iris placed her home made pendant onto the map.  She instantly noticed that because the way the pendant was shaped, it reflected sunlight into three narrow shafts across the surface of the paper.  "Okay, now what?"  She mumbled aloud.  Iris moved the pendant around on the map like a chess piece, turning and rotating it until the three shafts of sunlight intersected the three temple sites that were circled by a cartouche.  "This has to be it, it can't be this simple."  She thought.  The reflected sunlight acted as triangulation marks to set the location of something, but what?  Iris marked the pendant's final resting place on the map.  "I wonder what may be there,  another temple?  A priests treasure?"  Iris also wondered about that "power of the stone" inscription on Uukbah's coffin lid.  She checked the time and said.  "Why not?"  She hurried away to pack equipment and get some detailed maps of the location she had marked for the pendant.

Iris was almost finished loading her land rover when Dr. Inkyer showed up.  "Hello gorgeous."  He said to her smiling.  "Oh brother, what do you want now?  Do you want to throw me off the rest of the site?"  Iris snapped.  "Now why are you always so cold?  You didn't used to be like this, remember?"  "All I remember is being left by myself in a bar while you went screwing around with the dancer."  Said Iris.  "Oh come on, I had to do that to get some information that would help us recover some artifacts."  Inkyer said apologetically.  Iris just shook her head.  "And I suppose your going to tell me next that you never mix business with pleasure."  "That's not fair Iris.  I have some great attributes and I just wanted to see if you would spend a quiet evening with me tonight for dinner."  "Your not too observant."  She said.  "Obviously that's one attribute you lack.  I don't load my vehicle for an evening with you."  "So where are you going?"  He asked.  "Somewhere far away from you three creeps and when I get back, you guys are going to get your just dues."  Inkyer's face hardened.  "Now Iris, you're not going to bother Dr. Akutra about such a trivial matter are you?"  "You bet I am."  She replied.  "I'm going to tell him everything I've ever seen you three do.  I'm even going to let him know about some rumors I've heard about you guys selling artifacts on the black market.  Everything I know or heard is going to be exposed to hopefully start an investigation on you clowns!"  Dr. Inkyer stared at her vehicle for a moment.  "I'm sorry you feel that way." He said coldly.  Quickly changing the subject, he added.  "Looks like you packed for quite a trip.  You should be careful, remember what happened to your father."  "I'm not concerned about that but you should be concerned about your professional future."  Iris said as she turned and entered her tent.  Inkyer quickly slid under her land rover, pulled out a knife and sliced into a rubber connector on her oil cooler line, almost opening it but not quite.  He was back up on his feet as if nothing happened when Iris returned from her tent with one last bag.  "You know, I can't wait to see you guys brought down.  You have no respect for this profession and no respect for history."  "You should be more careful."  He said seriously with glaring eyes.  "Your accusations could get you into trouble."  "No!"  She snapped back.  "You are in trouble and you three will feel my wrath when I return."  Iris jumped in her vehicle, slammed the door and sped off into the desert showering Inkyer with sand.  As Inkyer brushed himself off he knew it would be a matter of time when the oil pressure would finish what he started, he smiled to himself and said.  "We'll see, bitch."

The dunes seemed endless as Iris headed south.  Every once in a while, she would stop and take a compass reading followed by a GPS reading to make sure she was on course to that mysterious mark on her map.  "What will I find?"  She thought.  "Even if this turns out to be a bust, at least it got me away from those three idiots for awhile."  This is what she liked about her work, the clues and the hunt to something undiscovered.  About one hour after sunset, the sand started blowing around reducing visibility somewhat.  Onward she kept going, not seeing a single soul along her journey.  The next GPS check showed she would be very close to her destination soon.  Her mind drifted as she drove.  She thought of some of the paintings she had seen in tombs.  She tried to imagine herself in one of those paintings as an Egyptian queen.  Iris smiled to herself at the thought of holding absolute power.  She thought of ways she could change the world.  "I would definitely outlaw men like the three idiots I left behind."  She said giggling to herself.  She figured her perfect world would give women all the respect and control and the men would get none.

A glow on the dashboard snapped Iris back to reality.  Her oil warning light was flashing.  "Nuts!"  She yelled to herself.  She didn't know what was wrong, but she hoped that the engine would stay running long enough to find some sort of settlement.  She drove on for about five more minutes before the engine seized and died.  "Damn, damn, damn!"  Iris pounded on the steering wheel.  She had a radio in the back of her vehicle and she could also send a distress signal on her GPS unit if need be; however, all she could do was grumble.  Getting out of the vehicle, Iris squinted to keep out the blowing sand.  She thought she could see a small hill about five hundred yards away.  Iris grabbed her flashlight, GPS unit, and put on her jacket.  Before she calls for assistance, she decided to see if she could see anything from the top of the hill.  A short distance into the walk, Iris tripped on a rock jutting out of the sand.  Shining her light onto it, she noticed it looked like a building stone.  It was very old.  The wind and sand had weathered deep gouges out of it, but to her trained eye this rock had been quarried for use in some kind of structure.  "Maybe I'm at the spot on the map."  She said aloud.  "I should make sure exactly where I am at."  Iris took out her GPS unit and took five steps towards the hill when the ground gave way under her feet.

Iris awoke with a headache.  She could hear the wind blowing far above her head and the occasional grains of sand falling onto her.  "Where am I?"  Slowly, Iris did a body check as she painfully sat up.  "Nothing broken."  She groaned.  Next, she reached for her flashlight; it was still on lying beside her.  She shined it around to reveal four walls.  "I must have fallen down a large shaft of some sort."  Looking up, she could see moonlight starting to shine in, illuminating the top of the shaft above.  It looked as though she was about thirty feet down.  "Moonlight?"  Iris thought.  "There was no moon out when I left the vehicle."  She checked her watch, evidently she was out for quite a while.  "Nuts!"  She yelled.  Looking around, Iris found her GPS unit shattered in one corner, her heart sank.  "This just isn't my day."  She then shined her flashlight about, examining the walls.  "Maybe I can climb out."  The wall was rough and uneven.  Numerous stones protruded out far enough for a handhold.  Iris chose one wall to try the climb.  It had a deep fissure in it she could use as a foothold.  She reached up and grabbed a rock.  Next, she put her foot into the fissure and hoisted herself up to grab the next rock.  At that moment, the fissure and part of that wall gave way under her weight and Iris went crashing into a hidden room.

"Nuts!" she yelled again.  A quick check revealed only a bruise on her elbow and a small tear on her jacket.  "If my luck holds out I'll beat myself to death."  She said sarcastically.  Something shiny caught her eye.  Iris shined her light around to reveal a huge golden hoop against the wall.  Right next to it was three other large hoops and four smaller hoops.  Each appeared to be made of gold and was very ornate in design.  Along the other wall were three large piles of huge golden chains.  In the center of the room sat a stone sarcophagus, this appeared to be a tomb!  She shined her light on the walls and it was decorated with many images of a woman towering in size over mountains, buildings, and other human figures.  Over each image was the ancient symbol for the goddess Isis.  Iris could not believe what she had found.  If it weren't for the fact that she was trapped down here, she would be dancing for joy!  She looked closer at the gold artifacts.  She had never seen such large items made of gold.  The detail and craftsmanship was wonderful.  She figured these all must be decorative symbols for a temple.  Next she examined the sarcophagus.  A large crack went across its base and three cracks went through the stone lid.  In fact, she noticed numerous cracks and fissures throughout the room.  She figured that earthquakes over the ages had caused them.  A familiar looking name in the only inscription on the stone lid caught her attention.  Iris brushed off the dust and sand and shined her light on it to read the hieroglyphs.  "I UUKBAH, HIGH PRIEST OF THE TWO KINGDOMS, DECREE THAT MY GODDESS ISIS AND HER POWER OF THE STONE RESIDE IN THIS PLACE."  Iris was very confused, there was that reference to the "power of the stone" again.  Also, Isis couldn't be in here, she was a religious symbol that went back in Egypt's history so far, that nobody could even try to guess how old the cult was.  Iris knew she was in an old tomb but she didn't think it was that old...or was it?  Uukbah's name was here, and unless there were more than one Uukbah, that was the same guy she uncovered last week and his tomb was almost perfectly preserved.  Besides, the pendant and the inscription make the connection.  Iris looked around the room for more inscriptions but all she could find was the symbols and diagrams representing Isis.  "Looks like there is only one way to find out."  One of the cracks in the sarcophagus lid looked to go across the entire lower quarter of the lid.  Iris picked up a large chunk of the collapsed wall and began banging it against the crack in the lid.

After hammering for a few minutes, the section below the crack gave way and Iris pushed it off.  Iris shined her light inside.  The wooden coffin inside had deteriorated.  She could see the feet of the mummy and below them was a gold box about the size of her fist.  She pulled out the box and looked it over.  It was pretty heavy and on the top of the box was the symbol of the Isis cult.  Along its sides an inscription read "THE POWER OF THE STONE IS THE POWER OF THE GODDESS."  A very curious Iris carefully pried the box open using her pocketknife.  Inside the box was nothing but a little jewel pyramid.  A clear crystal that was about 1/2" square by 3/8" high or on her metric scales it was 13mm x 9mm.  Iris examined it and wondered what it was...quartz, maybe a diamond?  A dull glow back at the entrance to the tomb reminded her of her predicament.  Moonlight was streaming down into the shaft.  Iris walked over to the opening to look back up.  She was still holding the crystal in her open palm.

As soon as she entered the shaft, the crystal in her hand began to glow.  Iris's eyes grew wide with surprise and she jerked her hand away, dropping the stone.  The crystal fell onto the ground and bounced just inside the broken opening to the tomb, out of the moonlight.  Iris watched as the glow faded.  She reached down and picked up the jewel and slowly moved the stone back and forth across moonlight and shadow, watching it glow and then fade.  Next, she kept it in shadow and shined her flashlight onto it but it did not glow.  She then pulled out a lighter and its flame also did not make it glow.  “This is weird.”  Iris stepped back out into the moonlit shaft and watched the stone glow brighter and brighter in her hand.  “Obviously your not any stone that I’ve ever heard of.”  She said aloud.  “Especially one that is moon powered.  Now this is a find, this will turn over a lot of theories about how advanced ancient Egypt really was."  She thought, however, her mind refocused back to her original problem.  She looked up at the top of the shaft and wondered how she was going to get out of here.

Uukbah wrapped Isis's body in silk and perfumes and laid her deep under the temple in a hidden tomb he had built there.  In a solid gold box, Uukbah placed that curious glowing crystal.  He tried to make it work on himself but he had no luck.  He tried to destroy it but it was far harder than any substance he had ever known.  He thought about losing it, dropping it into the oasis pool or throwing it out into the desert.  However, there was still a slight chance it might be found.  This was too powerful an object just to lose.  Uukbah placed the gold box into sarcophagus with Isis's boy and closed the heavy lid.  He then ordered twenty priestesses from the city to help him move her oversized jewelry into the tomb.  He told them that Isis had given the gold to the temple and he would store it here until he had room elsewhere.  Afterwards, he gave all the priestesses the same wine he gave Isis to thank them.  Uukbah took their bodies out into the desert during the night and buried them.  Even the workers who built the secret tomb years earlier had been killed.  Uukbah made sure he was the only witness as to who was in the tomb.

Over time, Uukbah was able to reintroduce the old religions to Egypt.  "Isis has done what she set out to do."  He told the people of the land.  "She has given us wisdom and joined the two kingdoms into one, making us more powerful.  Isis will one day return and we must strive to become a better society."  Uukbah used his influence on the king to manipulate the laws to gradually, bring back some of the old laws.  This was the start of a great era in Egypt.  The old Oasis City turned into a ghost town.  Uukbah had all the treasures and wonderful stonework from the temple at Oasis City brought to Memphis.  Leaving an abandoned, ornate temple would no doubt tempt looters.  Uukbah could not chance the discovery of Isis's hidden tomb so he had the temple torn down to the bare foundation and the pools filled in.  Before Uukbah died, he knew that mans intelligence would increase over time.  Perhaps someday, far into the future, man would learn the power of the glowing jewel and use it for good.  He arranged a clue to be buried with him to tell how to find it.

As the centuries went by, the memory of Isis faded.  Generation after generation of stone gods and goddesses replaced her in Egypt's religions.  Even the importance of Memphis faded over time.  It was replaced by names like Karnak, Luxor, and Thebes.  God-kings called Pharaohs rose to power.  Each king rewrote history to favor himself.  After many centuries, the true past was lost or scrambled beyond deciphering.  However, through all the changes, an Isis cult managed to stay alive.  It may have been diluted by time, but it was still there.  That first generation of people who knew her would not look to the sky when they heard thunder but to the horizon thinking that Isis was returning.  They didn't doubt Uukbah's promise of her return.  They just knew it would be a matter of time.

Peering down upon the tiny structures below her, Isis wondered how she appeared to the almost invisible inhabitants.  She slowly sank to her knees and still straddled the small city between her thighs.  She reasoned it was small enough to fit on her lap if she could pick the city up.  Stretching out her tremendous legs across the desert, Isis lay on her side next to the little settlement to get a closer view.  She could barely make out figures running in and out of the tiny buildings.  A big smile swept across her face.  "This is how it should be."  She thought.  "I have absolute control over their destiny.  I am truly a goddess!"  While giving close study of the small structures, one of her huge breasts inadvertently plowed into a corner of the city.  Isis barely felt it but a huge section of the wall and at least twenty buildings were instantly flattened.  Feeling no remorse for anybody who she might have just killed, and many did die, Isis stood up, brushed off any tiny specks of debris that clung to her top, and laughed a satisfying giggle.  She felt incredibly powerful.  In fact, she had never felt this good.  Isis opened her palm and stared at her glowing dream.  "This is it."  She said to herself.  "Tonight I begin to rule this land and after that, the world."  Isis now knew what kept her power going.  What had happened earlier that day would never happen again.  A wonderful confidence filled her as she carefully stepped away from the tiny dwellings and walked off into the night.

Uukbah was trembling with fear at what he had seen and heard.  He did not have to go far to find food for Isis.  When he returned to the temple, she was not there.  Uukbah set aside the food and walked out towards the oasis pool where he saw her.  As he approached Isis he almost called out to her to announce the meal he had brought.  However, he could see and hear Isis talking to that strange jewel in her hand.  Curious, Uukbah climbed behind a large rock not to be seen by Isis and observed her.  She was a very beautiful woman and Uukbah wished she would stop playing this goddess role so he could try to court her.  Despite her change in size and demeanor at times, he was still very attracted to her.  He was not, however, ready for what he witnessed next.  The jewel in her hand glowed and Isis grew!  He was almost killed when she soared in height.  The ground shook and the wind blew from her rapid and massive displacement.  When she finally stopped growing, he was staring at toes that were larger than the biggest structures in the city!  Uukbah stayed hidden, mainly out of shock; he just couldn't bring himself to move!  Isis had now become so large she was like a force of nature.  Every movement she made caused the air to move and the ground shake.  His mind could not comprehend her scale.  He could not even seem to see all of her at once.  She was larger than the tallest mountain he had ever been on!  Even being a good distance away from her massive toes he could feel her body heat.  When she bent down over the temple, the size of her hand was unbelievable.  But what really caught his attention was the glowing jewel that she displayed next to the temple.  Sitting in her gargantuan palm, it had grown with her!

He continued to watch as she arose and moved over to the city.  It looked as though just one large blast from her lungs could blow the city to dust.  Uukbah slowly came out of his state of disbelief.  His mind raced with thoughts of what this power she had mastered could do to the world, as he knew it.  Figuring out a way to stop her now would be almost impossible.  However, it was hard for him to think terrible of her since she was a very beautiful woman.  The fact that her dress tore when she grew and revealed much more of her massive sexy frame made it difficult to concentrate.  The destruction of the southeast section of the city by her huge breast snapped Uukbah back to reality, especially her casual laugh and unconcerned demeanor afterwards.  How could he stop a giantess whose bosom was as big as the entire city?  The fate of the kingdom, heck, the fate of man depended on a solution!  He watched Isis take giant strides off into the night with only the light from that strange glowing jewel staying visible for any length of time.  Uukbah reasoned that the jewel held her power and that he must get it away from her, but how?  He turned and looked back to the unfinished temple.  Cracks had formed on some of the stonework from the ground shaking and two incredibly huge and deep footprints were now on either side of it.  Isis had caused him a lot more work.  Suddenly, inspiration struck Uukbah and a smile came across his face.  He glanced from the temple out to the desert where Isis had disappeared, then back to the temple.  "It may just work."  He thought.  "It will take time, but I may have a chance to stop her after all."

Standing up, Isis glanced down at her dress.  It was revealing much more than what she was used to.  Actually, she wondered why it was still there.  She had grown many; many times her original size and silk does not stretch.  Evidently, it grew with her but not as fast as she had grown.  It now resembled something she might wear to bed, or for a better description, something she would wear to arouse a man in bed!  She giggled at the thought.  Once, she thought about walking into Uukbah's sleeping room with just such an outfit on.  Just to see what kind of man her host was.  Yes, this was no longer the type of dress she wore going to the markets in the city.  Her eyes widened as she froze on that thought.  The city....

Isis slowly turned around.  It was as if she was on the tallest mountain in the world.  In the bright moonlight she could see tiny dunes, small hills, and there on the ground, just three steps away, a very small city.  Smiling, Isis stepped over to the miniature dwellings, her shadow falling across it.  Along the wall of the city that held the gate, small patches of cloth littered the ground.  They were tents, not much bigger than her fingernails.  "So tiny," She thought.  She could make out small animals darting like insects away from her feet.  Camels and horses that had been tied up for the night had broken loose and were running away. Terrified at her approach.  She knelt down next to the city wall, which was only as high as her little finger was long.  Isis reached down and pushed on the tiny doors of the gate.  Made of wood, the once invulnerable city gates that used to be so impressive to her splintered with hardly any resistance.  Isis smiled a big smile.  She was stronger than anything that man could make!  Next, she rested her hand on the wall and the section under it gave way easily in a cloud of dust.  The stone and brick could not stand up to that much weight.  Her slightest touch caused a small structure to collapse.  Her reach was greater than the city walls were long.  Isis reasoned if the city was on a large platter, she would have little trouble lifting it.  The damage she was causing stirred the city to life.  She could see oil lamps being lit through the tiny windows in the structures.  It was time to announce her intentions.

Uukbah could not believe his eyes!  There, before him,

before the very city, was Isis!  His Isis!  But now she was huge!  Her destruction of part of the city wall aroused him from prayer in the temple.  When the lights in the sky started, everyone in the city cried out in panic.  The gods must be displeased with them.  Some ran to their homes to hide or seek shelter.  Most ran to the temple to offer hastily prepared sacrifices to the god idols and beg forgiveness.  Much of the populace thought the end was upon them and trembled in fright at the coming of the strange lights.  Even Uukbah was nervous at the sight of so many wonders in the night sky.  Being the head priest, he had knowledge of the heavens and could predict the cycles of the sun, moon, and stars.  This knowledge was handed down through the ages so the priests could announce important events like the planting seasons or the coming of a drought.  However, never had he seen or even heard of lights filling the sky as they were tonight.  He had worried about Isis when she left to gather wood, but he went to the temple to try to calm the terrified masses.  Uukbah tried to tell them that the world is not ending but that the gods are showing them a sign. "But what a sign!" Uukbah thought. "Isis is now a giantess!"
