Welcome to the land of Villgust.

Villgust came out in 1993 (well, at least that's the date shown ^^;). It covers an RPGish landscape with your basic RPGish plot. Basically, Villgust is about these eight chosen warriors whom are destined to save the land of Villgust from evil.

The story opens with four of the eight chosen heroes: Kui, Kris, Yuuta and Fanna. They take it upon themselves to protect the townsfolk from monsters, and so slay the evil creatures. To show their gratitude, one of the townsfolk offer shelter and food for the night. Fanna stays behind to freshen up (I guess she couldn't stand being all grimy from all that fighting another minute ^^;) while the others go off with the man that allowed them to stay to investigate his food storage.

It is then that they meet another of the chosen ones, Ryukia- a very hyper-active half human/half cat person. She is found snacking on the food in the storage room. Kui, being the leader-type challenges the 'monster' to come out, which she does. Ryukia leaps onto some crates (sorry, but I'm not that fluent in japanese and therefore can't translate stuff very well) where the others can get a good glimpse of her in the dim light. She pounces at Kris and licks her (well, she is a cat, isn't she? ^_~) and Kris gets all freaked out and swings her sword at her. Ryukia easily evades Kris and then hops off Yuuta's head (causing his helmet to go down over his eyes) and leaps away, leading the others on a merry chase.

Back with Fanna, a couple of monsters are plotting to attack her when suddenly they are ambushed by Ryukia. This also scares the wits out of Fanna, who takes off (but not without crushing those monsters with chunks of the edifice that came crashing down when Ryukia cam by). Kui, Kris and Yuuta return to find that Fanna has disappeared and left her bow and arrows behind. They start searching for her the next morning, assuming that she might be in trouble.

Meanwhile, Fanna is distraught over the fact that she has no idea where she is and she's unarmed and alone. Wandering the forest, she meets up with Ryukia (well, actually, Ryukia nearly scares Fanna to death; she keeps popping up suddenly ^^). Ryukia offers to accompany Fanna, and takes off with Fanna in tow, literally just whisking her away (Ryukia's VERY agile). They manage to foil a couple of the bad guys' traps which were set up to catch them. Somewhere else, the rest of Ryukia's group is in a town. Marobo, a big dog-like creature is competing in these fighting matches while his enterprising companion (this elfy looking guy that reminds me of Rap from 'Grandia'- hey, he even uses a boomerang!) Bostof (I guess that's how it's spelled- it's Bosutofu in all out katakana) continues to take bets or something. Lemi, another of their group collects the winning earnings. They eventually leave the town, wondering where Ryukia had gone off to. Some skeleton ninjas (minions of the big fat bad guy that looks like a cross between Yoda and Jabba the Hutt- his name is Gabadi [thanks Johannes, BTW ^^]) set up a trap for them by having some sort of illusion (hologram, whatever) of Kui, Kris, and Yuuta mocking Marobo, Lemi, and Bostof and mentioning something about Ryukia. Marobo immediately gets on the offensive and tries striking them with his giant axe, but the illusion fades, leaving them confused and seriously ticked.

At Gabadi's fortress, Gabadi's petting his frog Antoinette(as usual) and watching in this little glowing ball thingy what's going on and how his plans are carrying out. He wants the chosen heroes to destroy themselves, making it easier for him to take over and stuff. Ryukia and Fanna are still gallavanting through the forest, where Ryukia gets a bit side-tracked when she spots a mouse. Where Marobo, Lemi and Bostof are, they got ambushed by monsters and the skeleton ninjas I guess, so they're battling it out until there's only one ninja skeleton left. Bostof hurls his boomerang at the fiend, but the skeletal ninja evades it, and the boomerang misses. And who should appear at exactly that moment but Kui, Kris and Yuuta (Yuuta who catches the boomerang as it was heading right for them; talk about timing ^^). They're puzzled as to what in the world was going on, but Marobo and the others remembered them from that illusion earlier and attack. It seems the only ones that were serious about the challenge were Kui and Marobo, as they were the only two fighting it out with the full intent on vanquishing the other. Yuuta finds himself paired off with Lemi, which he comments that he can't fight a little girl. Lemi is a bit insulted, and starts throwing lightning bolts at him, shouting "How's this for a little girl, huh?!" (Or something like that ^^;;) Kris is up against Bostof, who is instantly won over by Kris's attractive figure, and rather than fighting her, Bostof embraces her and calls her 'o ne-chan.' The skies get all cloudy and it begins to rain.

Ryukia and Fanna take shelter from the rain in a cave, Fanna wondering where everybody went and Ryukia (jokingly) wonders where the mouse went. The scene switches back to the fight, where Kui and Marobo are still at it. Yuuta switched off with Kris (I guess), because he is now paired off against Bostof. Kris and Lemi don't really get anywhere because their fight resorts to name calling. (^^;;) Up on a nearby mountain top, Gabadi's second-in-command Guilda, is preparing to capture all of the heroes with some sort of twister-looking storm thingy while they're all distracted. Yet- who should appear but (my favorite character! =^.^=) Ryukia and Fanna, riding on a slab of rock (snowboard style) through the ravine and up onto the mountain top where the bad guys are, knocking off Guilda and sending him up into the funnel. From there, the storm goes all haywire and everyone pretty much gets blown up by it.

Kris and Lemi wake up a while later to find themselves, as well as the others (minus Ryukia and Fanna) locked up in a dungeon. Guilda enters (all bandaged up) and after an exchange of words and telling them that they are all there because they are the chosen ones (at which both Yuuta and Bostof exclaim simultaneously,"He's one of the chosen ones!?"), shuffles off with the rest of the bad guys. By that time Yuuta and Bostof woke up; Kui and Marobo were still unconcious, most likely from over exerting themselves when they fought (and that big blast didn't help 'em either). Next thing they know, the six of them are all strapped up on these big stakes (they always do that in lots of anime; why is that?) and Gabadi is sitting on this throne petting his frog Antoinette and saying the normal 'it's all over for you heroes' and 'I'll be supreme ruler of this land' speech (I guess =p). Then the process of exterminating them begins, beginning with Kris. These two dark minions hold up these wicked looking spears and are about to skewer Kris when suddenly the bonds are slashed off Kris and the two executioners done off the same way. Gabadi looks to see who was the one who did this, as does Kris. Up on the top of the stake that Kris was previously tied to, a silhouetted Ryukia perches, showing off her killer (and really kewl) claws (picture Wolverine, except his claws don't spread like this! ^^). "Ryukia-san jyo!" she announces, and then hopping down beside Kris, leans on the stake. Fanna comes up to join them, everyone's weapons gathered in her arms. Kris asks how'd they get here or something and Fanna explains that Ryukia was responsible for it all (there is a scene that shows all the left over minions strewn around the fat guy's fortress, guess that explains stuff pretty much). The others are cut down and take up their weapons. The fat one commands his minions to attack, and so Yuuta, Bostof, and Kris charge while Fanna and Ryukia take five; Lemi is left in charge of healing Kui and Marobo (as they are still knocked out). Yuuta handles them off easily, while Bostof (being a little short) sort of has some trouble blocking the sword of one baddie and trying to kick it away (because his leg won't reach! ^^;;). Upon seeing that his minions are being defeated, Gabadi makes a break for it. Kris sees this and Yuuta complies, rushing forth and managing to head off the fat guy, slicing him right through the gut. The others all sigh with relief that it is all over.

Of course,it's not. (I mean, do you ever fight the final boss once? ^^;) The left-over mess of Gabadi begans to pulsate and this dark, ominous laughter rings out. A giant monster forms where the mess once was, its body a big head with two more waving about on long, thin necks and a big spiny side. Yuuta, being the closest one to it, was the first one grabbed; one of the long necked thingys grasped Yuuta's sword in its mouth and dangled him (still holding on) over the spiny section of its body where it opened to reveal another mouth. Kris and the others cry out as the monster drops Yuuta in. Ryukia rushes forth, claws extended. She manages to catch Yuuta, but both of them are swallowed by one of the snake-like heads. Kris is furious, and so is Bostof. Bostof makes a heroic attempt to charge at the beast, but the large head on the front of its body roars, revealing its hideous teeth, and Bostof makes a u-turn and runs back the way he came. Kris is snatched up by the monster, and Bostof uses his boomerang to cut her down. Fanna shoots her arrows at the thing, but to no avail. Bostof calls out to Lemi, urging her to hurry and heal those two already, and Lemi responds that she's trying her best. Bostof throws his boomerang at the monster again, but it gets chomped by the thing's big head. Then Bostof gets trapped by another of the head thingys and turned to stone. Fanna tries another of her arrows, but the beast blows it back at her. Once again Kris is caught in the monster's clutches and Fanna is blasted by a big fireball (or something, I think the monster spit it out?) Seems like everyone is down, and Kris is the next to go...

Suddenly (gotta love that word! =Þ) Kui and Marobo appear, Marobo holding Lemi in his arms (she got exhausted from all that healing). At the same moment (well, nearly the same- okay, a second later!) the spiny sector of the monster is split open as Ryukia and Yu-ta cut their way through. Ryukia hops up and down happily exclaiming "Kakkoi! Kakkoi!" The two hop off as the monster moves, and the monster thrusts its two snake-like heads at Marobo, who catches them (one under each arm) and holds them there while Kui cuts Kris free. The big head of the monster lashes out its tentacle-like tongues, which wrap around Marobo's neck. Kui cuts them off, and Kris assists in decapitating the other two heads. The monster tries to escape, seeing as how its outnumbered, but Marobo grabs his axe and hurls it at the retreating fiend, cutting it right down the middle. The beast gives one last cry and then turns to stone. The land around them changes from a rocky, desolate place to green flowery meadows. Bostof is restored to normal, as well as the other victims that were turned to stone (who were all in the fat guy's fortress, but I failed to mention it earlier so oh well). Peace is restored to Villgust once again.

The eight heroes are seen bidding their farewells to the townsfolk and taking leave. Ryukia is way ahead of them, dragging Fanna along as usual. Marobo carries Lemi on his shoulder, and Bostaf and Yuuta fight in the background. Kris holds on to Kui's arm as they walk, and Kui blushes a little. They stop a ways from the town and talk a bit (perhaps making formal ammends), Kui shakes hands with Marobo (perhaps as a sign of joining forces). Ryukia runs by them with Fanna, and the others take off after them.
