| Cymru, (pronounced 'cumree') is the Welsh name for Wales. Known as 'The Land of Song', Wales is famous for it's male voice choirs, eisteddfodau, and bawdy mediaeval poetry. It is also the source of the Mabinogion, the cycle of myths of the House of Don. Here are all the Gods and heroes of the ancient British- Manawydan, Llew Law Gyffes, Pwyll and Pryderi, Rhiannon and Arianhrod. The earliest references to King Arthur are in Welsh literature, notably 'The Dream of Rhonabwy' and 'Culhwch and Olwen'.
One of Wales' most famous poets is Dylan Thomasauthor of 'Under Milkwood', so memorably read on the radio by Richard Burton.

The national plant of Wales is the leek, and the flower is the daffodil, worn by welshmen on St David's day, March 1st to honour their patron saint.
The National Anthem is Land of Our FathersThe national game is rugby, about which the welsh are passionate. Much of the best singing is done on the terraces at rugby matches!
The Welsh language is the oldest in Europe, being one of the six celtic languages. the other five are Gaelic, Irish, Manx, Breton and Cornish.
