Jumper
Right off the bat, I own nothing except my DBZ t-shirts ::beams:: and those have seen better days. YYH belongs to Yoshihiro Togashi (and others, but I don't know who they are) and Third Eye Blind owns the song, Jumper, and a record company has probably got a piece of it too. This songfic can be yaoi, if you look at it right. The songs on this cd do -not- lend themselves to yaoi! :: snarl of frustration:: And those that could work have some really bizarre lines, and I have no idea how to work around them, and...::sighs:: I will -not- ramble about my problems... If you want to look at things linearly, I guess this song-fic goes before the other one (I wrote it after, but since it's not yaoi, and the other one is...). Oh, and don't worry, I'm a mushball. I would appreciate e-mail, my addy being mcklease@continet.com Of course, it will work better if you read it first, so I'll shut up now.
Jumper, a YYH songfic by Huntstripe
I wish you would step back from that ledge my friend
Hiei stands in front of a portal in a ningen forest. As he steps forward to enter it, Kurama crashes out of the trees, trying to get him to stop, pleading.
You could cut ties with all the lies
Hiei faces Kurama, back to the portal, glaring at the fox. While he growls at him, Kurama's mouth moves, attempting to talk with the temperamental fire-demon. A picture of Yukina overlays the scene.
And if you do not want to see me again
The fox stops talking, panting, and his arms fall to his sides. He hangs his head, argument delivered, and awaits the decision.
I would understand
Closing his eyes, Kurama looks as if he's waiting for a blow to fall. And he remembers...
The angry boy a bit too insane
Their first meeting, Hiei having immediately concluded that he was an enemy.
Icing over a secret pain
Next scene, the underside of the Koorime's floating island, Kurama thinking of their practices concerning forbidden children. A speck falls off the side, then increases in size until it passes the fox's view point as a small bundle, then continues down.
You know you don't belong
A view of Hiei, during a meeting with the other Reikai Tantei, distanced from the others, flickering away when Kurama approaches him. He appears on top of a building, looking at the ningen passing beneath him with contempt.
You're the first to fight
A group of mixed youkai surround the fire-demon, challenging him. He smiles nastily, fangs gleaming, then turns into a black whirlwind with a blade flashing through it as he cuts through those who foolishly decided that numbers would defeat him. Another scene, Kurama trying to get Hiei to join everyone else at Genkai's temple and being swiftly rebuffed with a few harsh words.
You're the flash of light
The Youko is watching Hiei use the kokuryuha, rushing to him as he falls after calling it back, worry in his eyes, knowing that someday the fire-demon isn't going to bother calling it back and let it finish him off.
I know somethings wrong
Kurama watches Hiei out of the corner of his eye, concern in his expression. The fire-demon disappears, then reappears in front of the fox, asking him what his problem is. As Youko protests quickly, the Koorime snorts, then leaves.
Well everyone I know has got a reason
Kurama, sitting in his room as images of old 'acquaintances' flicker past: Yomi, Kuronue, and others. Then he thinks of all his other mistakes, and the tales he's heard of others' misfortune.
I wish you would step back from that ledge my friend
The fox waits for Hiei's decision, but he stands as a statue, going over his options yet again. Hope flashes in Kurama's eyes, it may yet be possible to convince him to stay.
You could cut ties with all the lies
Trying desperately to hold onto this final chance to keep Hiei he starts talking again, reiterating the reasons to stay, the main points being Yukina and friendship, companions who understand at least a little.
And if you do not want to see me again
Despite his misgivings, Kurama continues, while Hiei looks as if he's in the middle of an internal debate.
I would understand
Finally stopping, Kurama watches Hiei carefully. The fire-demon's face begins to clear, as if one side of the argument is winning.
Well, he's on the table
Hiei remembers his last battle, then leaving abruptly after waking with cryptic words, and Kurama staring blankly after him, his mind turning them over, searching for meaning.
And I do not think anyone knows
Later, fire-demon sits in a tree, watching the people scramble busily about their business with immense senses of purpose, yet changing nothing.
And your friends have left
A meeting in Koenma's office, the baby telling of some future assignment. When he turns to Hiei, he's told abruptly that the youkai will no longer be in the Ningenkai. Everyone stares at him in surprise as he stands impassive, and he can nearly hear the 'click' as Kurama finally puts his words in the correct context. Even Kuwabara starts trying to convince him to stay, then eventually give up when he stands his ground. Koenma starts re-briefing the others on their duties without Hiei's aid, and tells him to leave, since he's no longer a member of the team. A look of surprised hurt flashes across the fire-demon's face, then he flits off.
I never thought it would come to this
Hiei's perched in a pine forest, going through a bout of serious introspection, wondering precisely how he'd gotten to this point. He takes out his katana and a sharpening stone, trying to get his mind off of everything by working the nicks out of the sword. His thoughts still wander to everything he'll leave, flashing past the humans crowding the city, Kuwabara, and Yuusuke without stopping. As he comes to Yukina and Kurama, his hand slips, cutting his thumb. He throws the stone to the ground with a growl and sticks his finger in his mouth, trying to concentrate on how annoyed he is and force everything else out of his thoughts.
And I, I want you to know
Back at the portal, Kurama hopes that he got his point across. That Hiei -will- be missed, that he can't just up and leave without affecting anyone.
Everyone's got to face down the demons
Hiei works over the fox's earlier words. Then we see him in a dark place, assorted youkai jumping out of the blackness. He cuts them down, but seems slower than normal, then they start to gang up on him; soon he can no longer be distinguished within the mass of brawling figures. In the woods, he starts abruptly.
We can put the past away
Kurama holds his hand out to Hiei, offering the aid and support of his friendship, and love.
I wish you would step back from that ledge my friend
Physically and emotionally exhausted from searching for Hiei and the portal, then the argument, Kurama drops to his knees, watching the fire-demon with a resigned expression.
You could cut ties with all the lies
The picture circles out, distancing itself from the scene. A picture of Yukina swirls around the edges.
And if you do not want to see me again
Hiei steps closer to the portal, and Kurama looks as if he's going to stop him, the lets his hand fall in defeat. The fire-demon 'hn's at the fox, closing the portal. Kurama looks up in blank surprise, shock written all over his face. Hiei smirks.
Can you put the past away
As Kurama stares at Hiei in surprised idiocy, the fire-demon asks him if he -will- help. Shaking the cobwebs out of his brain, the fox affirms immediately and stands, eager to leave.
I wish you would step back from that ledge my friend
Hiei follows Kurama's lead, stepping into the woods, leaving the portal behind.
I would understand
Before the mission, everyone meets at Genkai's, Kurama looking decidedly smug. When Hiei appears, only he isn't surprised. After Yuusuke gets over his shock, he grins at Hiei and starts to revise the plan. Even Kuwabara doesn't look too disappointed that his 'rival' isn't going to leave. The fox winks at the fire-demon, who actually smiles back.

What did I say, mushball. Besides, my beta likes happy endings, and I'm trying to keep in her good graces. Now, to say this again, C&C would be appreciated. Flames get turned into paper airplanes and thrown around my house 'til the dog catches and eats them. My e-mail is: mcklease@continet.com
