Good For You
by Huntstripe

 Hey will you stay awhile

The whole gang is gathered in a park, Kurama slightly at a distance from the rest, sitting under a tree.  He glances up and over his shoulder into the branches where Hiei's perched.  Smiling, he pats the ground next to him in invitation.

My smile will not mislead you

Hiei looks at the Youko cautiously, trying to analyze the intents behind the brilliant smile.  He snorts, then leaves in his trademarked blur.  Kurama's smile fades.

 Cause I've been alone

Youko Kurama wanders the Makai, with glimpses of Kuronue and Yomi being left behind.  Youkai of all kinds throw themselves at his feet, and he simply steps over them.

And my faith turned to stone

A chibi-Kurama (in human form), looking about five, watches Shiori mistrustfully while she attempts to convince him to join her.  The scene is repeated, only this time with children his apparent age.  He stands impassive.

 Still there's something in you
 I believe in

Kurama cheers Hiei on in a battle, receiving only an irritated glare in response.

 Close to the pierce
 I got wild and fierce

A double-image of Kurama, one human, the other youko, both in a class room.  The human side is sitting at a desk, looking bored; the Youko has a fuzzy, slightly transparent look, and keeps pacing through the classroom, examining everything, then gazing longingly outside.  Bars appear in front of the windows.

 Still I let you be

Kurama's standing near Hiei at Genkai's temple, then the fire-demon flits off.  Kurama visibly restrains himself from calling the koorime back, and clenches his hands.

I feel you next to me

At another battle, Kurama and Hiei fight back to back, handily defeating all of their youkai challengers. After it's over, Kurama glances back, looking for Hiei.  He's gone.

 Cause outside I feel
A wind it starts to blow

Kurama's leaning outside of his window, looking longingly at the tree in front of him.  A wind blows his hair into his face and he shivers.  He goes back into his room, but leaves the window open, glancing back outside one last time.

 I'm taken in your undertow

Many scenes flash by, the fox and the fire-demon staying the same.  Kurama watches Hiei with fascination as different settings move behind them, blurring and changing: Koenma's office, Genkai's, during and after battles, but especially watching Hiei as he leaves.

 Everything is fine....
But I'm lonely all the time

Kurama goes through the motions of his ningen life, but beside him is an image of the Youko, looking desolate and lonely through it all.

All I want is to be there
For the things that you're going through

Kurama, tending Hiei's wounds, trying to talk to him about Yukina, and aiding him in a battle.

 Is that good for you
 Is that good for you

Hiei leaving abruptly immediately after Kurama finishes bandaging his wounds.  Telling the 'stupid fox' to mind his own business, then disappearing.  Yelling at him for thinking he's too weak for fight his own battles.  After all of the scenes, Kurama's smile breaks, and he collapses in on himself, looking worn and sad.

 You haunt my nights when

Kurama chases Hiei through a demented, dreamscape Makai. Hiei keeps getting farther ahead, and Kurama yells for him to wait.  The dream blurs, then shatters as Kurama wakes, panting.

I don't know where my life should go

There's a scale, and in the middle stands a red and silver Kurama.  Hiei and the Youko are on one end, standing apart from each other and looking detached.  Shiori and the human-form Kurama balance on the other side, shooting the figure in the center pleading looks.

 Is that good for you

Kurama daydreams about Hiei, telling him (and receiving a positive reaction), running around the Makai with him, then his bubble is popped as his mother calls him down for dinner.

 Hey child please stay awhile

Hiei stands, looking incredibly offended, while Kurama is off to the side giggling, and a near-sighted human offers Hiei candy.  Even after they manage to get rid of the ningen, Kurama's still chuckling.  The fire-demon gives him a wounded look, then leaves.  Kurama turns serious immediately, looking as if he regrets his outburst.

My smile will not mislead you

Kurama sits at a table with Shiori, sipping a cup of tea.  Suddenly, he looks out the window, picturing Hiei perched on a tree outside. A silly smile flashes across his face, then his mother taps him on the shoulder to regain his attention, and it is quickly hidden.

 And roll me out
 I go wild with doubt

Kurama tries to concentrate on his homework, then pauses and rests his chin on his palms, looking blankly at the paper.  He imagines himself, kneeling in front of Hiei, obviously pouring his heart out.  Hiei snorts, leaves, and Kurama looks as if his heart's breaking into a million pieces as the vision shatters.  He shakes his head, trying to return to work.

 I grab at you
I can't stop grabbing at you

Twisting and turning in the grips of a nightmare, the Youko lays in his bed.  His arms thrash around, trying to find something.  He suddenly sits bolt upright, panting, mouthing the word 'Hiei.'  He sits forward and rests his forehead on his hands, then flops back against his pillow, trying to calm his breathing.  He attempts, without success, to return to sleep.

Cause I feel you cross my mind in dis array
 Intoxicated ricochet

Kurama/Shuuichi sits in class, watching his teacher attentively.  As he raises his hand to answer a question, a flash of black passes by the windows, and his head turns abruptly to stare searchingly outside.  His expression is confused, and the teacher must call him several times to regain his attention, making Kurama blush at his lapse.

 There's nothing wrong
 Just don't take too long

Yuusuke approaches Kurama with a concerned expression on his face, asking if he's alright.  Kurama gives him a positive answer, but Yuusuke looks as if he doubts him.  Kurama waves his concerns away.  As Yuusuke walks off, Kurama gazes up into a tree Hiei likes to perch in, mouthing the words "don't make me wait."

All I want to do is be there
For all the things you're going through

Kurama watches Hiei as he trains, trying to get up the courage to -do- something.  Finally, he takes a deep breath and steps towards the irritable little fire-demon, his entire demeanor serious.  Hiei pauses in his kata, watching Kurama dispassionately.  When the fox is about three feet away, he stops, then starts talking.  Hiei's eyes keep widening, and by the time he's finished they're the size of his fists.  Hiei  backs away with a scared-rabbit look while Kurama watches him, waiting for a reply.

 Is that good for you
 Is that good for you

Hiei ends up backing into a tree, Kurama's impenetrable gaze resting on him.  We can see Kurama say "Daijoubu?"  Hiei vigorously shakes his head 'no,' then takes a deep breath and asks for time.

 You haunt my nights when

Kurama sits in his back yard, the moon washing everything pale.  He twirls a rose between his fingers and looks up at the stars, which are remarkably visible.  He seems less distrubed than before, still and quiet.

I don't know where my life should go

Kurama is on the scales, once again.  After a long look at both sides, he sits in the middle, content to wait for one side or the other to change their alignments, rather than chose.

 Is that good for you

Kurama is sitting in a park, school bag resting on the ground, when Hiei drops down just in front of him.  He looks peaceful and calm as the fire demon approaches; his waiting is over.  As Hiei opens his mouth, the view zooms quickly out, blurring for a moment, and settling at about tree-top height.  It focuses on one thing as the screen fades gradually to black, from the edges to the center.  It's two figures....kissing.
