Phylomortis review By: Cedric Story: There was a time when everyone suddenly had lost mentality. Due to a group known as the gnostics, everyone was unable to function well. Fights broke out into wars and it took the strongest will of the greatest minds just to get little things done. However, the gnostics did not know they were doing this. Peace gradually returned and now a woman named Maia goes to a peace conference to settle the Gnostics/Yatar Wars dispute. But will all go well? The opening is a real eyecatcher, by integrating the credits in with the story. Very impressive. When the game finally begins, you get to choose between two difficulty levels. Maps are greatly done and the story is unique in many ways. There are, as most beta rpgs, it's share of typos. The amazing way government is portrayed (which seems accurate enough to me) really makes the story flow. The game is split into a couple chapters, which is always a nice touch. And one thing that I've been noticing more, this game also has the text boxes that shows what town/dungeon/etc that you are in with graphically pleasing bitmaps. Lots of great music in here, there's a bunch I've never heard before. I noticed that in the first place, the chief, Eos, stops moving after an event. It really sticks out when everyone else is animated. The puzzles can be extremely hard and tiresome if you don't understand the instructions. Sadly, mosaic was used for battles again. There was a part in the second chapter, at the institute where I got stuck, because I couldn't go over the bridge in the left brain to talk to the girl who knows the feeding cycle. music/sound = 94% story = 97% maps/events = 96% score = 95.7%
