Dream Chasers: Silver Crystal Review By: Cedric Story: Long long ago, there was some powerful people called controllers who controlled the continent destroyers. However, these controllers turned against their masters and caused what became known as the great cataclysma. Everyone forgot about the controllers until one was suddenly discovered. Three powerful kingdoms existed and they sent forces to capture the controller. Each wanting the power for themselves, they went into war. Then the controller caused destruction and in fear, the kingdoms joined up together. When the forces got to the area, there was nothing there but ocean, the power had destroyed itself. But now one of the kingdoms is gone, destroyed by the other two. And a new controller has appeared.... There are some high points to this game, some great looking maps (some tiles made by the game author) and the graphics. They definitely went to some trouble to make some amazing 3D images which they chained together to give it that avi/fmv feel. The opening is a great entrance to the game. The game is favorably separated into chapters, giving an impression of guidance to the character. The text boxes for entering an area is always a plus and makes it look more professional. Many of the events, especially the chains of events for scenes, are well done. The sound effects are great too. There are some problems, since it is a beta. Although the music is there, a lot of it doesn't seem to play. The strange thing is, when I was playing through it the second time, the music suddenly started to work during one of the battles. I have no idea why. The entrance music to battles is a bit annoying, I just don't see that star trekish wav as being a good entrance sound. Because of the length of it, it takes a while before the battles actually start. Then there is the mistake of using the Mosaic choice for screen switching. Mosaic is nice every once in a while and is a cool effect. But when you have it for every battle, you start to get exhausted at it and wishing it would go faster so that you can hurry up and get to the battles. A lot of the music doesn't feel like it fits in for the mood of the game either. There are a lot of characters in the towns but many of them you can't even talk to, which makes things look bad. Some of the speech, along with spelling and some events, also need some adjusting and fixing. Sound/Music - 78% (due to some not working and that battle entrance) Story - 91% Maps - 83% Score = 84%
