The Night that was once Wasn't

The sky was dark and course.

Winter engulfed the earth.

Flames were fiction,

and the moon laughed.

__

On that fateful night,

I came down the stairs.

My bare feet touched, what was,

and wasn't cold.

__

My heart burned

Angst filled me.

Silence in the night,

startled my soul.

__

I closed my eyes.

The night was mine.

Breathing in the light, I coughed.

Silence is the key to life.

__

Metaphors bouncing.

But then, she's not me,

not who I though,

and not anything.

__

The pencil it occurs.

That strikes me as odd.

Curving about what you had.

Remembering what you want.

__

Hands on the dark,

and feet on the earth.

Most villages strive,

the stones thought why.
