~1-28-05~ Police announced today that they are closing the missing persons investigation on Rev. James Goodman, who disappeared late in November. Rev. Goodman’s nephew, Thomas Goodman came forward and stated that his uncle was, “With family now.” Mr. Goodman will also be assuming his uncle’s responsibilities his small community church. ~1-23-05~ The business and financial world was rocked today with the news that James Down III, President, COO, and CEO of Down Industries, Inc., was killed along with the rest of his family in what police are calling a massacre. This news comes just days after the scandal that had James Down IV at the center of police attention, where he had been accused of kidnapping the girl who tests would later show was his own daughter. James Down III and his wife, Josephine Down, were found dead along with their servants in the family’s Massachusetts home. The body count was at twenty-six initially, but was raised to twenty-seven late the next day, when police reported the body of a small child, believed to be James IV’s daughter Michelle Down, in the lake near the family’s manor. James Down IV is still missing. ~1-28-05~ News came in from Simon Bellegarde, of Clan Nosferatu, that he would not be coming back to Crucible for some time, and would therefore relinquish his position as Leader of the Harpies. Tempest and the Primogen have not yet chosen a replacement for Simon. Additionally, as each Harpy was personally chosen by Simon to be his assistant, those Kindred who once were Harpies will no longer have that title. Tempest has allowed each of them to keep their Status, but as they are currently without a leader, there will be no Harpies until one is chosen. Colt, Crucible’s Sheriff, reminds the Kindred of the city that he moves very fast, and that the lack of Harpies will certainly not keep him from getting information of Kindred misdeeds. Last night the Brujah Call was given by Vindicta, Brujah Justicar. She sent the call to the Brujah of Canada to come and aid her somewhere in Russia. Canada's Brujah, almost to the man, are answering the call, from what all reports have said. The migration numbers in the small hundreds (the Brujah are excelled in their love of America's northern neighbor by only the Gangrel, whose numbers some say are near 1000 in Canada). Some worry that this may leave Canada slightly vulnerable. Others say that only the Brujah and the Gangrel really ever fight for turf there, anyway, so matters should be just fine. ~1-30-05~ There was a small family funeral and memorial service held today for James and Josephine Down. In attendance were James Down IV, the deceased’s only son, Bernard Warner, the only surviving house-servant of the family, and a woman who remained unidentified as of press time, but who is presumed to be the wife of James, and the mother of the deceased child. Later that day, power of the Down empire was officially transferred to the sole heir. James Down IV took over the role of President and Chief Executive Officer of Down Industries, Inc., while the title of Chief Operating Officer was given to Jonathan Down, another member of the family. |

~2-2-05~ Clan Tremere announced tonight that Neve, the Tremere Primogen, and Jayce Edwards, ex-Sheriff and Tremere of Status, have been destroyed. This was done due to an 'internal decision from higher ranking members of the Clan.' This action was taken within the boundaries of the Traditions, and no laws were violated with their Destruction. Dr. Colm Whitman, the former Tremere Whip, has taken the position of Tremere Primogen, and with it, the additional Status of Revered. ~2-9-05~ Coast to Coast Trucking, a shipping company based out of Montana, has asked commuters to be on the watch for a sixteen-wheeler with Colorado plates, A-RN74X. It is licensed to Gabe Jackson, a Coast to Coast employee who has not been seen since mid-January when he left for a short vacation. He was believed to be headed to Crucible. ~2-12-05~ Tempest announced today, through her Seneschal that, with the sudden and ‘entirely understandable’ disappearance of several of her officers, she has assigned Kindred to fill these offices temporarily: Lily, of Clan Toreador, will be her Seneschal with the temporary Status of Cherished and Esteemed, in Jimmy‘s absence. Maria, of Clan Toreador, will be the Keeper of Elysium with the temporary Status of Honorable, in Lavenia‘s absence. Bug, of Clan Nosferatu, will be Scourge, in Suok‘s absence. ~2-18-05~ Tempest has let it be known that she has changed some of Smite’s rules; these are not changes of Traditions, rather basic housekeeping rules from the new Prince. 1. No Caitiff shall hold office in Crucible, however they may now earn Status above Acknowledged. 2. The Keeper of Elysium no longer has the Right of Destruction, nor do the Primogen have the Right over their own Clan. Only the Prince and the Sheriff have the Right of Destruction. 3. Each Kindred may only have as many ghouls as they have permanent Status traits, however certain offices are allowed more to assist with their responsibilities in their position: The Sheriff, Keeper of Elysium, Leader of the Harpies, and Scourge are each allowed one additional ghoul for the office they hold. The Seneschal may have two additional ghouls, and the Prince shall not be limited in the creation of ghouls. Primogen already have their whips; they should need no additional assistance beyond that. ~2-28-05~ The FBI today announced that Ste'phanie de Soufre and Marco Talon are wanted for questioning regarding an attempted kidnapping and also for the murders of James P. Down III, his wife and the entire staff of their mansion. Ms. de Soufre and Mr. Talon are wanted for bail bond flight and for evading Federal Agents. They are to be considered armed and dangerous. |

~8-18-05~ (review in the club section of The Mercury) by Achelle Lewis When I heard that The Option was having yet another grand re-opening, I was far from overjoyed. After all, it had already once been a jazz house, a coffee drinker's haven and even an S & M Mecca for every sexual perv in Crucible. This time, however, I freely admit I was wrong. Not only was I surprised at the current décor of velvet and leather but the musical act of the night was nothing to turn your back on. The brave and sometimes innocent performance of Darian was truly hypnotic. I never realized that the violin … yes, I said violin, people … could evoke such emotion and depth for the audience. I highly recommend following this hunky boy-toy wherever he goes to be enlightened. Who knows, maybe his other private performances will astound you as well. Keep me informed! Then there was the sideshow. All of you have most likely heard by now that this place is supposedly haunted. I was once the biggest skeptic too. Then I saw weird things moving around and thought, "great, more cheesy attempts to get me to like this place." When I'm wrong, I say it. 'Cause at one point I apparently pissed this female ghost off by moving some of her shit. BIG MISTAKE! She flashed to me her really crispy looking visage (no cameras or holographic equipment, I checked... or wires). All at once I was a believer! Go there and mess up her little table "art" and see what I mean! Oh, beware of women trying to take off with you. This stupid bitch named Laveena tried to get me to go home with her but I got out of her grip right quick! Sorry, sweetie, Achelle don't play for that team! And get some updated clothes, honey. Wild, wild west look went out about 100 years ago! Did you know that Wendy Mort is the vicarious owner of The Option? Maybe since the demise of her band-mates of Bride's Lace the real estate market is calling. Or… maybe it's the drug market. There were so many people at this club that were blankly staring into each others' eyes for lengthy minutes, I thought I was at some sort of hippie love-fest. Again. Don't ask. ~9-2-05~ There was a residence fire this morning. The home was an abandoned house, and no deaths or injuries were discovered, so the Police did not investigate. The house burned to the ground. ~9-7-05~ Tonight there was a major amount of gunfire reported at a downtown hotel. The Crucible Police Gang Task Force was called in to investigate, as the amount of rounds fired and the weapons used seem to indicate a gangland killing. All of the occupants of the room the incident took place in were killed. Several other hotel patrons were injured when bullets went through the walls of the room into adjacent rooms. |
