~Elysium~

~What is Elysium?
[Boys by Mike Birkes] (Quoted from Vampire:The Masquerade" by White Wolf. Copyrighted by White Wolf)
"A prince often declares certain portions of his domain to be free from the taint of violence. Such locations are known as the Elysium, and they tend to be places where the elders of the city spend most of their time. Much intrigue and debate occurs at these locations, and it is in the Elysium that the business of the city takes place. Though on rare occasions the sanctity of the Elysium is violated, usually the "Pax Vampirica" is upheld.
Normally certain buildings are designated to be part of the Elysium, most commonly places devoted to the fine arts or places which are in some way artistically or intellectually stimulating. Thus the Elysium tends to be such places as the opera, theaters, art museums and art galleries. Sometimes the havens of certain Cainites or even nightclubs are so designated, however. The rules for Elysium are typically quite simple. First and foremost, no violence is permitted on the premises against Kindred, kine, or physical objects. On the pain of Final Death no art is to be destroyed (thus making the Toreador among the strongest supporters of the custom of Elysium). Elysium is considered neutral ground, with no conflicts between Kindred allowed upon its premises. Thus, while intrigue and verbal sparring can get quite fierce, rarely does the conflict escalate to violence. Finally, most consider it very bad manners to attract attention entering or leaving Elysium. Some places are closed at night, and thus special arrangements have been made for Kindred to leave and enter."

~Locations of Elysium:
[Standoff by Mike Birkes] Areas protected by Elysium are found throughout the city of Crucible, watched over by the honorable Lavenia. Elysium is in all of the bookstores, museums, art galleries, stages and auditoriums (except sports arenas). A nightclub, The Option (owned by Charlie of clan Toreador), is also considered Elysium, as is the home of Andre Golgotha (formerly the home of Angelique' LaFontaine, Frederico Pussini's favorite ghoul), the favorite haven of the late Malkavian Primogen (Franklin) and the loft/studio of the late Luis Delegro (Toreador Primogen). On rare occasions other places are added to this list, but this is never done lightly.
No place may lose the status of Elysium, unless the Prince strips the area of this claim. The protection and sanctity of Elysium is such that such a thing is rarely done, and it would be considered frivolous, foolish and uncivilized to wantonly declare and strip away, declare again, and strip away Elysium from any place, regardless of who was asking for such lunacy.
