Wave Three:

Featuring:   Gimli and Gollum
Release Date:  August 1999
Price Range:  $12.95-$16.95; $7.99 for the Toys-R-Us versions
Variant Count:  Coming Soon
Sculptor:  Daniel Horne (Both Figures)

Coming in August of 1999, Gollum and Gimli join the Frodo, Gandalf, Ugluk and the Balrog in Toy Vaults Middle Earth Toys.  Gollum is, according to Toy Vault, the most requested figure.  Original plans had it to have Gollum released in several years, but due to fans clamoring for a Gollum toy, Toy Vault pushed his release date ahead.

Gimli, the dwarf from Erebor, is one of the nine members of the Fellowship.  He comes armored with his trusty axe, and is ready for battle against hordes of Orcs.   His figure comes with two different head paint jobs, a red haired/bearded version, and a gray hair/bearded version (Which actually looks more brown than gray).  Both use the same head sculpt, but offer two different paint jobs.  There is also a different paint job on his bracelets, one set is gold, another silver.

Gimli at Battle, the Standard Figure, comes equipped with the 'flower' axe, armored cap, shield, and has the red hair and silver bracelet paint jobs.  The Diamond Exclusive version, Gimli of the Fellowship, comes with an exclusive battle axe, gray haired/gold bracelet paint scheme, dragon helm, hexagonal stand, and a pipe.  Once again, the ToyVault ToyClub will be having an exclusive figure, this time it is Gimli in Lorien.  Gimli in Lorien comes with a Lorien Cloak (Similar to that of the cloak in the Frodo inLorien figure), gray hair/gold bracelet paint scheme, blindfold (clothe), club, dragon helm, pipe, and hexagonal stand.  One final version may, or may not become available.  The Gimli the Dwarf figure might be released in the Mass-Market (through chianstores such as Toys-R-Us), if and only if the first wave of Mass-Market Middle-earth Toys sells well in May.  If it does get released look for this variant to have the red hair/silver bracelet paint scheme with a copper colored flower ax, metal cap, and shield.

The Gollum figure comes in three different paint schemes.  The first version can be found in the Gollum AKA Smeagol figure (standard).  This figure comes with a pale green paint scheme (Probably the most accurate paint scheme), a brown boat, and rabbit.   The second paint scheme comes with the Diamond exclusive Gollum the Fisherman.   This version has a dark green paint scheme, a brown boat, and a fish (Pictured both in silver and green, I am not sure which will be in the final released figure, hopefully both!).  The fish has a bite taken out of it.  The third paint scheme comes with the Toy Club version.  This is the flesh-colored Gollum with His Precious, and he comes with a bat, gray boat, and has a new hand sculpt that is holding Frodo's finger.   The Mass-Market version of Gollum (If released), will have the dark green paint with a full fish.

Unfortunately, Gollum does not float on water when in his boat.....

Gimli stands around five inches tall, while Gollum stands somewhere around three inches.  Gimli has atleast eleven points or articulation, and Gollum has atleast 12 points of articulation.
