Alignment: Chaotic Good Size: Large (6’ at the shoulder) Base THACO: 10 Psionics: See Below Pegacorns are the result of the extremely rare breeding of a Greater Pegasus and a Greater Unicorn; not to be confused with a Unisus, the product of the union of a standard Unicorn and Pegasus. Pegacorns can be found among both the herds of the Pegasi and Unicorns. There is only a 5% chance of any herd having Pegacorns, and usually 1 or 2 appear in any one herd. Although, Pegacorns can number up to 1% of the herd’s total numbers. In herds of standard Unicorns and Pegasi, Pegacorns will be the herd leaders unless there is a Greater Unicorn or Pegasus present; then the Pegacorns will act as advisers to the herd leader; although they themselves ARE NOT under the rulership of such. Pegacorns will serve only good characters, and even then it is not as a servant but as an equal companion! Once a Pegacorn has chosen a companion, it will stay with that companion for the life of the companion, and will fight to the death for its companion if needed. Pegacorns have a life span that rivals even the Elves; they only die when either killed or tire of this world and ready to over on to the next! A Pegacorn fights with its two powerful hooves, a bite, and its horn. If a Pegacorn can charge with its horn, then it will have a +2 bonus on its THACO rolls as well as doing double horn damage upon hitting. A charging Pegacorn CANNOT use its fore hooves or bit if it charges; but can strike once with its rear hooves for defensive measures. Rear hooves do the same damage as the fore hooves. A Pegacorn’s magical horn can damage any creature regardless of any restriction, such as needing a +3 or better weapon to hit. Also, a Pegacorn’s horn is a sovereign remedy against ALL forms of poisons; poison gas included. Naturally a Pegacorn is totally immune to ALL forms of poisons; poison gas included. A Pegacorn will ALWAYS sense the approach of any enemies within a distance of a 24” radius. They move very silently and can surprise opponents on a 1-5 on a d6. Twice per day, Pegacorns are able to use a special Dimension Door spell to appear up to 36” away from their former location. They may so “teleport” with a rider upon their back, with no ill effects to the rider {except maybe some initial disorientation the first time the rider is subjected to this ability, DM’s call}. Also, Pegacorns are such graceful flyers, that spellcasters can cast spells from the back of the ‘Corn while flying as long as the rider has rode that particular ‘Corn for at least 2 weeks prior to casting a spell while flying. A male Pegacorn may carry weight equal to that of a heavy warhorse and still fly. The male can carry up 1.5 times the weight of a heavy warhorse and make limited “hops”, “hops” being short “flights” limited to a maximum 3 round duration. The male can carry up to 2 times the weight of a heavy warhorse, but only while on the ground; but the male can make wing-assisted jumps of up to 30 feet long. A female Pegacorn follows the same above weight restrictions, except that she is equal to a medium warhorse. Pegacorns make all saving throws as if they were magic-users of the 18th level. They CANNOT be charmed or held by any type of magic or psionics. Death spells DO NOT affect Pegacorns in any way. Pegacorns are also immune to Illusion/Phantasm spells, levels depending upon the Intelligence of each Pegacorn. Pegacorns speak the languages of the Unicorns, Pegasi, Avians, and the Common tongue of mankind. All Pegacorns will have at least 4 more languages {more if Intelligence is higher}. Some of the more common languages that a Pegacorn might speak are Elvish, any Good Dragons, Faerie creatures, Winged Folk, and the secret tongue of the Druids. However, rarities do occur sometimes {DM’s call}! Pegacorns are very strong Psionic* creatures. All Pegacorns have the following stats, although there is always a chance for oddities {again a DM’s call}: Level: 16th Power Score: 18 Psionic Strength Points: 655 Sciences: Clairvoyance, Energy Containment, Iron Will (WW), Mindlink, Precognition, Psionic Blast, Tower of Iron Will, and True Sight (WW) Devotions: Accelerate (WW), Cell Adjustment**, Contact, Dimension Walk^, Ego Whip, ESP, Id Insinuation, Intellect Fortress, Invisibility, Know Course (WW), Mental Barrier, Mind Blank, Mind Thrust, Passive Contact (WW), Photosynthesis (WW), Psychic Crush, Safe Path (WW), Send Thoughts, Thought Shield, and Weather Prediction (DK) Harbingers (WW): Pegacorns have all of the attack Harbingers listed in the book, The Will and The Way. Constructs (WW): Pegacorns have all of the defensive Constructs listed in the book, The Will and The Way NOTES: 1 (*): All Psionics are from the following sources: The Psionic Handbook, Dragon Kings {Dark Sun}, and The Will and The Way {Dark Sun accessory}. DK equals Dragon Kings, and WW equals The Will and The Way. 2 (**): A Pegacorn’s Cell Adjustment has automatic success, the roll is only to determine the chance of a Power Score occurring. The ‘Corn’s healing rate is now at 1 hit point healed for each 1 psp expended. 3 (^): A Pegacorn’s Dimension Walk is also applicable when flying.
