The Outpost

The Outpost is where you will start your adventures.  Here you will kill your first creatures, find your first items, and complete your first quest.  That first quest is simple - clear out the silver mine so that it can be stripped of resources.  Jorax gave you this quest before the game began.  It's an easy quest, so just clear out the rats (and a skeleton or two) and get back to town.  Once you are back, talk to everyone and cause some trouble with the guards.  The guards are easy to kill, even at such an early stage, and you get a good deal of equipment from them - they both have Combined Mail, a very useful set of armor.  If you're feeling very Orky, there are a few other people whom you can insult and fight.  Don't mess with Jorax yet.  Just do as he says.  When you come back to him after clearing out the mine, don't tell him that you have the silver - he will take it from you.  After you visit Jorax, go to the Merchant and see if he has anything worth buying.  Then get ready for a small Goblin invasion.  After killing the goblins (there are 25 of them, 5 having bows), you can pick up their loot.  Go talk to Jorax again and he'll tell you to go kill their leader.  Next, he'll get you to kill all the Hobgoblins.
I would suggest that you leave the killing of Jorax until you have cleared out at least half of the dungeons in the first 2 cities (the Outpost and Klorga).  This will give you enough power to overcome him.  Killing him will land you a wealth of goods, with Combined Mail for everyone.
So, without further ado, here's the map for the Outpost:

The Healer, Merchant, and Old Witch will move around their designated areas but will not leave them, so they are easy to find.  The Healer will cure every affliction, even death, for a single silver nugget.  The Merchant sells mediocre equipment at high prices.  I'd suggest not buying anything from him unless you have to.  Try stealing if your Scout/Assassin is good enough, but realize that if you fail you'll have to face six guards.  The Old Witch sells potions at a steep price.  Save yourself some time and money by making them yourself with the Alchemy skill.  Sometimes you might need a potion like Remove Injury before you are able to create it for yourself.  If so, steal it from her, because she'll charge an arm and a leg to restore your eyeball  : ).
The Stirges are an easy bunch to defeat, but you have to be careful.  Stirges can hide, and therefore might sneak past your fighters to attack your spellcasters.  Keep this from happening by attacking from the entrance to the Strix cave and keeping your group together.  Don't move the fighters, just Guard with them and let the Stirges come to you.  That way, you can pepper them with magic before they even get to you and when they do get there, you'll never face more than four at a time.
Jorax's cave and the adjoining guard chambers and feast hall are unimportant until you want to kill Jorax.  If you can wait for him at the mouth to his cave, then you will get the same advantage of cramped quarters as you had when you fought the Stirges.  Again, don't try to kill him too early or he will stomp all over you.
The journey to the Rat infested silver mine will take one day, the trek to the old tombs will take four days.  Travelling to the Goblin stronghold will take two days, while the Gnomes are three days travel from the Outpost.  The road to Klorga takes nine days to travel, but has a dangerous part in the middle.  The Hobgoblins are three days away, while the Ogriants lie in wait six days from the Outpost.
Beyond the caverns of the Hobgoblins lie the strange and hilarious Norkers, along with the not so humourous Giant Ants.
