DOCTOR WHO STANDARD GALLIFREYAN TIME LORD ABILITIES

GALLIFREYAN REGENERATION: Galifeyans have the ability to regenerate to heal the body, such as when the the body has grown very old, or when the body has recieved so much damage that life would be difficult (Endurance drops to Shift 0 (00). This must occur over a period of time. The Gallifreyan Regeneration will not work if death is immediate (ex. decapitation, disintegration, being blown-up, having both hearts and/or the brain shot, etc.)). Gallifreyans may regenerate a total of 12 times (more if they can obtain an extraordinary outside means of regeneration after the last regeneration, such as the renagade Time Lord known as the Master had done to him on Traken). This is an inborn ability of Gallifreyans, and they do it by having a shadow of their future selves, known as a Watcher, merge with them at the moment of regeneration (this normally happens more quickly than the normal eye can catch, but the fourth Doctor's Watcher took enough time to merge with the Doctor so that he could be seen by the Doctor's companions). Watcher's are generaly unknown to anyone other than Gallifreyans, so they can hide from companions until needed. The Gallifreyan that the Watcher belongs to will notice him/her immediately and know that the death of their present incarnation is immenant so as to try to prepare for the regeneration. Some Galifreyans (such as the Master) know the basics on how regeneration works, and as such can usually control how they will appear in their new incarnation to a certain extent (the Master always looked vaguly similar in his regenerations). Whether the Galifreyan knows the basic mechanics of regeneration or not, the Intuition of the dying form determines if the ability to control appearance is possible, and the Psyche of the dying form is necessary to determine if the dying form is mentally strong enough to achieve the desired results (First a Yellow Intuition FEAT must be made, then a Yellow Psyche FEAT must be made. The FEATs are Red if the regeneration is forced, as was done for most of the Doctor's regenerations). Some Gallifreyans (such as Romana) have such a high control over their abilities that they can voluntarily sacrifice a regeneraton to change their appearance to whatever they like (this is an unecessary use to the power, and almost no Gallifreyan would ever flaunt the ability in this way). If body has died instanttly, but is still reasonably intact (hit by Force or Energy blast, etc.), but the Gallifreyan suceeds at a Psyche FEAT with a natural 100, the regeneration will suceed, but the new body will be seriously, horribly deformed (ex. The War Lord regenerated after being shot at point blank range by an enegy blast, but his new form was covered by small, useless, withered arms on his chest and back). On a sucessful Reson FEAT, a Time Lord who knows another Time Lord can recognize that other Time Lord after regeneration, even if the regeneration makes them look completely different. After a regeneration, a period of Physical and Mental weakness will afflict the new form (See Gallifreyan Post-Regeneration Weakness below).

GALLIFREYAN POST-REGENERATIN WEAKNESS: Gallifreyan Regeneration causes havok with the new incarnation both Physically and Mentally. A new personality may emerge as the regeneration restructures the brain. This also means that some memories and Talents may be lost, while forgotten ones may re-surface. Each day after the regeneration, a FEAT must be made for each Statistic (FASERIP) to determine if the Stat is increased closer to normal for the new form. (The statistics will be generated after regeneration, but the losses wil take effect after this. Health and Karma are affected by the losses and will change as the Stats increase closer to normal.) REGENERATION: This is normal Regeneration and should not be confused with Gallifreyan Regeneration. Works as per the normal Power.

RECOVERY: As per normal Power.

LIFE SUPPORT: Due to their advanced circulatory systems, Gallifreyans have Monstrous (75) Life Support. Gallifreyans can close off all external openings to prevent depreasurization from a vacuum, or to prevent breathing in gas (or minimize the effects of the gass if it has already been inhaled). If an air supply is presant, a Gallifreyan can survive in open space (vacuum and Monstrous (75) Cold) without a space suit for about 6 minutes (60 turns) before Endurance FEATs must be made. They can also lower their body temperature to survive in environments of intense Heat. They can also survive in the Vortex without any survival gear, but a TARDIS and an operator inside is needed to retrieve them. They can also move through areas of areas of time between time (ex. If an object is being brought or sent from in front of a normal person to another time, the normal person would think the bject just dissapeared. In fact, there is a certain ammount of time in between the transferance lastin from the time the object enters the time zone until it materializes completely, or vice versa. A Time Lord would be able to move through that gap in time while everyone else is frozen for that period. All FEATs made in that point are made at -1CS because there is a time eddy present that is the equivelent of walking into gale force winds on all sides. All FEATs made the same area as the time displaced object areat -2CS.).

GESTALT: Due to an extra edition to the Gallifreyan brain, known as a superganglion, Galifreyans are imbued with powerful mental abilities. One of these abilities is the ability to form a mental gestalt with the Time Lord intelligentsia; a thousand superbrains in one. This ability is used only in extreme emergencies. On a sucessful Psuche FEAT, it can raise the RIP of the Gallifreyan to Class 1000 (1,000) for the task at hand (resisting intense mental domination, understanding an advanced technology, etc.), and is then severed. The first time this is attempted, a Green Psyche FEAT is needed. The second ime a Yellow Psyche FEAT is needed. All subsequent attempts require a Red FEAT. A full day (24 hours: 13,800 turns) of rest must betaken before this is brought back to Green. Renegade Time Lords are mentally cut off from using this Gestalt with the Time Lord intelligentsia. Althogh it is rare, due to the restriction of Gallifreyans not being able to meet themselves, no matter what incarnation they are in, (the Doctor has met previous or future incarnations of himself several times (he is not known for following Gallifreyan rules too closely)), they can form a mental Gestalt with themselves, (Once when fighting off the mad Time Lord Omega, two of his incarnations formed a mental Gestalt to fight his mental control of the anti-matter universe. Another time, when fighting against the abused powers of the Matrix, five of his incarnations formed a mental Gestalt to resist its influence). For each incarnation that the Gestalt can be formed with, the highest Psyche is used as a base, and each additional mind raises the Psyche by +1CS.

PSI-SCREEN: The superganglion allows Gallifreyans to form a Psi-Screen equal to their Psyche +1CS.

TELEPATHY: The superganglion gives the Gallifreyans Telepathy equal to their Psyche. Because of their law about only observing and not interfering with other peoples and cultures, they will normally use their telepathic powers only amongst themselves and their TARDIS's. Renegade Time Lords (The Doctor, the Master, the Rani, the Meddling Monk, etc.) are not so discriminating. The Doctor usually uses his telepathy to find out more about his companions without their knowledge, and sometimes to keep them from thinking certain thoughts (such as why they understand alien languages) for what he feels is for his companions own good. The Master uses his Telepathy to continue his Mind Control powers over large distances.

TRANCE: Gallifreyans can place themselves into a trance to double the effects of Regeneration, Recovery, and Life Support. They can go into or out of this trance at will. They can also place non-Gallifreyans into this trance for the same effect at the other's Endurance rank, but only the Gallifreyan who placed the trance or another Gallifreyan can remove the trance. Anyone else who trys to wake up a non-Gallifreyan who is in the trance will place the tranced being in danger. If woken up, the being must make a Red Psyche FEAT, or he/she/it will go into psychic shock and loose 1 Psyche level permanently. The being must then make another Red FEAT at the lower Psyche level or die of brain death. If it suceeds, not only will the permanent Psyche loss be in effect, but all FEATs will be at -1CS for 1-10 days.

RESISTANCES: Because of their long life spans, Gallifreyans have Excellent (20) Resistance to Aging attacks. Their mental strength gives them +1CS to their Intuition against Emotion Attacks. Gallifreyan immune systems, vaccenes, medications, etc. give them +1CS to Endurance Resistance to Diseases.

TIME ABILITIES: Although not all Gallifreyans are Time Lords, they all have the ability to operate Galiffreyan TARDISs. This is because a certain part of them contains a genetic code that can stabalize a time vehicle travelling through the Vortex (a gift from Rastilon). This genetic part is necessary for the operation of TARDISs and allows Time Lords to operate any time machine.

MULTI-LINGUAL: Through their Telepathic conections to their TARDISs, Time Lords can hear other languages as their own though the translation circuits in the TARDIS, which is itself in contact with the translation computers on Gallifrey. They can also use their Telepathy to make other sentient species with a spoken language system around them speak and understand any true spoken language system around them as if it were there own language. The Time Lords who do this usually block the thought as to why the other being can understand or be understood in an alien language. This is presumably so that the recipient of this power does not get confused or ask the question.
