Control: Excellent
Speed: Unearthly, Shift Z when using Hyperthrust (see below)
Body: Incredible
Protection: None
FEATURES:
--Particle Beam Cannon: A small retractable particle beam projector is housed in the front fairing of the bike, just back from the headlamp. This weapon is capable of delivering beams that cause 20 points of Energy damage at a range of 8 areas.
--Minigun: A 9mm minigun is stored in the equipment bay on the right side of the front fairing in front of the right handlebar. The minigun causes 25 points of Shooting damage at a 4-area range.
--Missile Launcher: The equipment bay on the right side of the front fairing opposite the one storing the minigun is equipped with a small but powerful missile launcher. The missiles have a payload that inflicts 40 points of Edged Attack damage at an 8-area range.
--Vertical Lift: The bike's front forks are equipped with air compressors that allow the bike to achieve jumps. The bike is considered to have the Leaping power equal to the Power Rank of its current speed. At speeds higher than the rider's Agility, the rider must make an Agility FEAT vs. that rank or be thrown from the bike upon landing.
--Air-Foils: The bike is equipped with air foils just behind the front wheel. These air foils are used to assist in braking. The air foils give the rider a +3 CS to Control FEATS when trying to slow or stop the bike. When used in concert with the vertical lift feature, the bike can be launched off the ground and perform a mid-air backflip. This maneuver is HIGHLY ill-advised, however and requires a red Agility FEAT to accomplish. Failure means the bike and rider land wrong and take full falling damage.
--Hyperthrust: A miniature afterburner located in the rear of the bike can allow it to reach speeds of up to 300 MPH. (Consider this Shift Z for FEAT purposes.) The bike is controlled via courses plotted by the operator at its Command Center while in Hyperthrust; the rider relinquishes control and merely holds on for dear life, using his Strength rank.
--Resistances: The bike has Incredible resistances to fire, corrosives, electricity, and cold.
TALENTS: Law Enforcement, Pilot (Motorcycles)
EQUIPMENT:
--Racing Suit: Jesse Mach's all-black racing suit is custom-fitted for him
and allows ffull freedom of movement. The suit is also insulated, giving it
Excellent Resistance to fire, corrosives, and cold. The suit gives him
Excellent protection during a crash.
--Helmet: Mach's black helmet is equipped with aircraft-quality heads-up display (HUD) technology. At the upper left of the face shield is displayed a digital readout of his speed on Street Hawk. The face shield's optics can be manipulated to give him up to Incredible Infravision and Telescopic vision. Readouts on the upper right and bottom of the face shield denote the status of the latter two features. The helmet is of Excellent material strength and provides that rank in Protection in a crash. The helmet allows Mach to communicate with Command Center via satellite bounce-patch all over the Los Angeles area.
Talents: Engineering, Computers, Electronics, Repair/Tinkering, Physics.
Against Tuttle's wishes, the prime candidate for testing Street Hawk was chosen as Officer Jesse Mach, an L.A.P.D. motorcycle cop known for his daredevil motorcycle skills and his blatant disregard of the hide-bound rules. Mach originally snubbed Tuttle's requests to involve himself with Street Hawk, but a tragic turn of events changed his mind.
While dirt-biking in the desert with his partner, a criminal whose dealing his partner had witnessed stalked the two of them in a large black truck. The two of them were both run over, causing the death of his partner and severe damage to Mach's right knee. Mach's injuries made him unfit to stay on the force as a motorcycle officer, and he was transferred to the L.A.P.D.'s public relations division, a position he loathed.
Tuttle, aware of his injuries, informed Mach that a not altogether approved by the A.M.A. surgical procedure could restore his knee to as good as new, providing he came on board for Operation: Street Hawk. Mach reluctantly agreed, but the reluctance vanished once he realized what Street Hawk was, a chance to once again use a motorcycle to police the streets... and to avenge his partner's death.
Mach did indeed avenge the death of his friend and partner by luring the driver that killed him over a ravine. Since then, Mach has used the bike to combat crime in Los Angeles area on a number of occasions.
Mach and Tuttle work secretly out of an abandoned L.A. warehouse that houses Command Center, the maintenance and staging area for Operation: Street Hawk.
From here, Tuttle can tap into compuer networks, provide Mach with information in the field, and activate the bike's Hyperthrust feature, for which a 5-second countdown is customarily given. Tuttle preprograms the bike's course before initiating Hyperthrust, as the bike becomes too fast to safely handle even by Mach.
No one other than Norman Tuttle knows that Jesse Mach is the crimefighting motorcyclist that has been dubbed (by astonishing coincidence) by police spokesmen as Street Hawk.
