A black hole begins to affect a passing ship or traveller when they are 262,244,000 miles away from the black hole. At this point the passerby is attacked by CL. 1000 Gravity Increase. For each area closer the target gets, a Feat roll is made for the gravity attack. The color result is what the target must equal or surpass to resist being pulled closer to the black hole. If the Gravity Increase rolls a white, that round the target can try to get away. What happens if a victim is pulled into the black hole is up to the Judge. It could be an explosion, tranportation to another dimension, whatever the GM decides.
The strange gravity field surrounding black holes makes them very difficult to detect. Ships scanners must make an UN intensity feat to detect a black hole before coming to close.
ASTEROID BELTS
Asteroid belts are vast collections of boulders and space debris. The debris is usually so tightly clustered as to make entering the belt a dangerous proposition. Anyone piloting a starship into an asteroid field must make an EX intensity piloting feat roll every round inside the belt. Any collision automatically causes damage equal to the ship's speed. Flying characters must make an EX intensity Agility feat roll, or collide with an asteriod and sustain damage equal to their speed. Most asteroid belts are 32,000-1,024,000 miles across.
METEOR SHOWERS
A meteor shower is a collection of rapidly moving space debris which travels across the cosmos. Meteor showers damage any starships/characters which they strike. A meteor shower can cause up to UN damage. They roll on the UN column to hit, and avoiding a shower takes an UN intensity feat roll every round.
PULSARS
A pulsar is the core of a giant red star gone nova. After the explosion, the star collapses down to a tiny piece of matter about 30 kilometers across which emits perfectly periodic streams of radiation, appearing to blink on and off in rapid regular intervals. A pulsar has CL. 1000 Magnetism, which can pull starships that come within range toward the pulsar center, causing a catastrophic collision for SH-Z damage. Although pulsars tend to jam the electronic operating systems of nearby starships at SH-X level, they are often used as navigational beacons, like "cosmic lighthouses."
NEBULAE
A nebula is a vast cloud of gasses suspended in space. Buccaneers like to hide in nebulae and ambush passing starships. A ship's sensors must make a MN intensity feat roll to detect a ship or object hidden in a nebula.
NOVA/SUPERNOVA
A nova is an exploding star. Treat a star going nova as a CL.3000 explosion and range. A supernova is CL. 5000.
THE SILVER TWIST
The Silver Twist is a strange band of energy which roams the DC Universe. The Twist and its random comings and goings defy description. Anyone entering the Silver Twist is sent to an alternate universe of the GM's choice and design, with SH-X Dimension Travel.
