Then the story breaks, Japanese news flashing pictures of nightmarish HUGE monsters ravaging the west coast of Japan, a sadly ineffective military only angering them! Bravely, the mutant Sunfire calls for help, and attacks them in an effort to draw the beasts away from the population! His call is answered from many parts of the globe, from the north pole comes Superman, from Egypt comes Ramses, and from the Mediterranean Pompey Firehair! Also, the New Crusaders gather BOTH Blue and Gold Teams, their task: to form a line of defense at the coastline!
As the heroes rush to the rescue, scans confirm the battle being waged on TWO fronts! An army of smaller (but apparently no less dangerous) creatures assaulting Japan, and a small group of giant monsters wading into armies of Russia! The People's Defense Force being only able to slow the onslaught a little! Superman, Pompey, and Ramses dive into the rear flanks of the giant beasts, and are assisting Godzilla, King Kong, and a couple of HUGE Robots in the attempt to stop this terrible threat...
Back on the Coast of Japan, hundreds of brave warriors do battle with the strange and horrific aliens, but they are losing! The New Crusaders arrive in time to turn the tide of battle, and even they are hard-pressed against the bizarre abilities of these monsters, the aliens seem to use fairly complex tactics! The battle quickly becomes a savage hand-to-claw/stinger struggle, lasting hours as the heroes slowly hunt down the marauders, many heroes are devoted solely to healing the wounded! Painfully, the hideous aliens give ground, though not without cost. The battlefield is carpeted in the dead, wreckage of small towns and villages...
On the Russian front, the battle of titans is so furious, all conventional forces retreat! The Russian government draws a line at a certain valley, if the beasts enter it, the Russians will launch an all-out nuclear assault! The heroes manage to ground the flying monsters, and even get Godzilla and Kong in front of the beasts! As the two forces collide with elemental fury, a vast robot plows into the leader of the escapees of Monster Island, it is Destroyer! The ruthless fury of his attack stuns even Megalon's compatriots, and they stand back, allowing Destroyer and Megalon to slug it out. Not even the heroes dare interfere in such a conflict, as the combatant's blows fill the air with shattering sound, and the earth crumbles beneath their feet! Then, the dust begins to settle, and Destroyer hauls the unconscious Megalon into the sky. He announces that if the rest of the escapees do not return to their island, he will hunt each one down, and give them each twice the punishment Megalon has received.
Stunned to see their leader battered and beaten, they slowly turn back, and return to Monster Island. The heroes realize that they could have only beaten such an army in this way, and they begin the damage control so badly needed by what is left of the landscape. At last the assembled heroes drive the alien invaders back off the coast of Japan, and they flee whence they came, furiously swearing revenge...
Back on Monster Island, the defeated followers of Megalon are sentenced to weaknesses regarding saltwater and the ocean, so they may never leave the island again. Megalon is fitted with a cybernetic device allowing radio control of his body by a non-attacking source. Destroyer claims Dozen Island (near Dogo Island in the Sea of Japan, Dogo is known as Monster Island, BTW these are REAL places!) as annexed for the less violent/dangerous of his charges. The UN and Japan both agree, in light of Destroyer's efforts to contain these creatures, and a permanent no-man's-land zone is established around both islands.
