Infinity Inc. is a hero group consisting mainly of children and proteges of the older heroes of the Justice Society of America. They are based in Los Angeles, and considered LA's official heroes. The group was formed when Fury, the Silver Scarab, Nuklon, Northwind, Jade and Obsidian were denied admission to the JSA due to youth and inexperience. The Star-Spangled Kid had been thinking about leaving to form his own team. He regained control of his holdings, and found he owned the lease on the defunct Stellar Studios property, but the city owned the land. A deal was worked out where he could rent the land if he provided the city with a hero group.

Infinity Inc. is a corporation with headquarters at Stellar Studios. Each member is a professional hero and draws a paycheck from the organization. Their private identities are publicly known.

History: Henry "Hank" King is the son of two Golden Age players: the longtime JSA foe Brain Wave (Henry King) and Merry Pemberton. He was conceived during the brief time when the Brain Wave had reformed his criminal ways. Upon the elder King's relapse however, Hank's mother disappeared; he was told she had committed suicide. Hank ultimately chose to follow the path of good, and aligned himself with the young heroes of Infinity, Inc. In their first case, Hank's father again repented with his dying breath. King Sr. sacrificed his life and bestowed Hank with his own mental powers to defeat the Ultra-Humanite. This may have been Hank's undoing: in the years to come, his father's evil legacy would blur the line between good and evil for Hank.

His increased mental powers put a strain on his romantic relationship with fellow Infinitor, Jade. After the team's breakup, Hank snapped from the guilt of his father's evil and founded the villainous Legion of Doom. Brainwave was ultimately stopped by Maxima's mental abilities and placed in treatment. During this time, Jade became involved with Kyle Rayner (Green Lantern). In jealousy, Hank attacked them and was nearly killed by Obsidian. Hank appears to have abandoned his career as a hero. He has recently opposed Green Lantern again, and joined Black Adam and Atom-Smasher in a rival JSA team. Since her return, his mother Merry has not sought to contact Hank.

History: Jade is the daughter of the original Green Lantern, Alan Scott. She and her twin brother, Todd (Obsidian), were conceived by Scott and a young woman named Alyx Florin. In truth, Florin was the former villainess, Rose Canton (a.k.a. The Thorn). She was raised by adoptive parents, Julian & Myrna Hayden, and did not meet Todd until adolescence. Since then, Alan has married Molly Maynne (the former Harlequin).

During her time with Infinity, Inc., Jennie had a brief relationship with Brainwave II, but his mental instability eventually led to their break-up. Jennie pursued acting and modeling and serving with the short-lived team called the Blood Pack. She lost her inborn powers (Green Lantern/Sentinel: Heart of Darkness #3), and for a time began to exhibit plant-based powers similar to her birth mother's.

She met and is currently engaged to Kyle Rayner (Green Lantern V). When Kyle was called away into space, he bestowed Jennie with a power ring, making her the sixth Green Lantern of Earth (although she never actually took the name "Green Lantern" [GL v.2 #107-112]). Better yet, when Kyle gained the powers of a god, he restored her original powers completely. After that, the two of them became engaged to marry.

As a Green Lantern, Jade assisted (but did not join) the JLA, and she remains a reservist. (JLA #27) Recently, she has joined Arsenal and Nightwing's new team of Outsiders.

History: Dr. Beth Chapel, was a colleague of Charles McNider. She first appeared when Jade was rushed to the hospital for treatment against Mr. Bones' cyanide touch. Shortly thereafter, her super-hero career kicked into fast and full gear. During the onset of the Crisis, Beth was blinded by an oxygen explosion in her hospital. She was rescued by Hourman's son Rick Tyler, who took his father's Miraclo drug. Like McNider, Beth discovered that she too could see in the dark. She and Rick assumed the mantles of their predecessors as Dr. Midnight and Hourman II. Along with Wildcat II, they applied for membership in Infinity, Inc., but were not immediately accepted. Eventually they were admitted, but their careers were short-lived. Infinity soon disbanded and Beth and Yolanda were recruited by the U.S. government for a mission to defeat Eclipso. Both women died on that mission along with the Creeper, Commander Steel, Peacemaker and Major Victory. Before her death, Beth had begun a romantic relationship with Rick Tyler, but she has no known relatives.

History: Albert Rothstein is the son of Phil Rothstein and Terri Curtis (nee Kurtzberger), the daughter of reluctant forties super-villain Terry Curtis (Cyclotron). His mother was raised by Terry's former lover Danette Reilly (Firebrand II) after Terry's death in 1942, and often cared for by Al Pratt, the original Atom, who later became Albert's godfather. Albert's father, Phil Rothstein, died while serving in the Army while Albert was a boy.

As Nuklon, Al was a founding member of Infinity, Inc. While with Infinity, Al had a largely unrequited crush on Lyta Trevor (Fury), who was engaged to Hector Hall (Silver Scarab). After Hector's disappearance, he offered to marry Lyta to act as a father for her child, a proposal she declined.

After Infinity's demis, he joined Wonder Woman's Justice League International with his friend Todd (Obsidian). (JLA #0) Nuklon was an optimistic foil to Obsidian's overwhelming pessimism, and the pair stayed with the League until it was disbanded by the UN after a controversial Extreme Justice mission. (JLA: Incarnations #6). He also flirted with Icemaiden (who turned out to be gay). After this, he changed his codename to Atom-Smasher (in memory of his mentor, the Atom and his grandfather, the reluctant villian Cyclotron) and joined the new Justice Society (JSA #1, 8.99).

His mother, who went on to work for NASA, recently died in a terrorist bombing masterminded by Kobra, but during a subsequent battle with the time-traveling villain Extant, Atom-Smasher altered history so that Extant would die in Terri's place, restoring his mother to life. It has recently been suggested that Albert will eventually marry Courtney Whitmore, Star-Spangled Kid II.

NOTES: The name "Atom-Smasher" was coined by Mark Waid in Kingdom Come (1996). This Elseworlds tale hinted at many things which may or may not come to pass in the DC Universe proper. It has recently been hinted that he will marry Courtney Whitmore, the Star Spangled Kid, sometime in the future (JSA #15, 10.00).

Talents: Thief, Stealth.

History: Obsidian is the son of the original Green Lantern, Alan Scott. He and his twin sister, Jennie-Lynn (Jade), were conceived by Scott and a young woman named Alyx Florin. In truth, Florin was the former villainess, Rose Canton (a.k.a. The Thorn). He was raised by adoptive parents, James & Shirley Rice, and did not meet Jade until adolescence. It was later revealed that Todd's adoptive father was abusive; this resulted in serious mental scars for Todd. Since then, Alan has married Molly Maynne (the former Harlequin).

Todd debuted as a founding member of Infinity, Inc. He served with this group for its duration (Infinity, Inc. #1-53), then continued to partner with his sister, Jade. During his time with Infinity, Todd had a brief relationship with Marcie Cooper, who turned out to be the new Harlequin, a villainous agent of the Manhunters.

He joined Wonder Woman's JLA after Zero Hour with fellow Infinitor and friend, Atom-Smasher) (JLA #0) During this emotionally volatile tenure, he learned more about his powers and was drawn towards his own darkness. (JLA #105) He explored the definition of his sexuality. He and Nuklon stayed with the League until it was disbanded by the UN after a controversial Extreme Justice mission. (JLA: Incarnations #6)

At some point thereafter, he came into contact with JSA foe Ian Karkull. Karkull played on Obsidian's growing depression and turned him against the JSA. In battle, Obsidian apparently died at the hands of his father. (JSA #9) In truth, he has been plotting against the JSA in partnership with Mordru.
