HEROES UNLIMITED TO MARVEL

Basically, I figure a Rank Number based on Maximum, Average and Minimum values.

Well anyway, the Tables I have I had somewhere, I have in fact posted to the Usenet Some time ago, and I have values that, though based for Palladium to AD&D, Can be used for Marvel.

Well for Attack powers, they will end up having Varying ranks for Range, Damage, etc. Rank is Basically determined by Rounding Maximum damage to the nearest 5th so a 3d6 energy attack turns to an excellent Rank Attack

Heroes Unlimited, they use a random Education roll. They have a base Extra Percentile bonus to all the character’s skills.

I'll go explain each on line by line basis.

BTW: For these example figures.

We'll assume any Attribute to be at 18, Level to be 6th, HTH level at 3, hit points at 26, SDC: 36

Palladium Stat to marvel:

PP + LVL : Fighting rank

PP: Physical Prowess, Level being the Level of training in a HTH style, Normally, this is equal to Character's Experience level. For example: Wu Shih never have HTH combat above 3rd level ability without Multi classing.

18 +3 = 21 or Excellent.

PP+Combat Bonus: Agility

Combat Bonus, this is the Average bonus of Strike/parry/dodge abilities. Typically they are Equal to +1 per 2 PP above 15. Maxing out at 30 for +8. HTH combat, Skills, powers, usually increase this number. The Average for 3rd level and PP 18 is +3. So Agility would also end up being 21. (an 18 adds +2 Strike parry and dodge, Skills and hth typically add at least +1 to most of these categories ) (round up always)

PS: +Damage bonus Strength

Physical Strength is Palladium PS + HTH or Special ability damage bonus. HTH Typically adds at most +4 to Damage, so a person with PS 18 and +4 damage bonus is at 22 Strength (this is to make HU characters on level with typical Marvel super heroes)

PE: Endurance

Physical Endurance + Extra Poison/magic bonus should be used. Typically Supernatural beings in Palladium get +2 to save vs. Poison and or Magic, so they would add +2 to their Endurance ... so it would end up being 20 for this example. So far that gives us a human with near top Human stats with health of: 65

IQ+ Education Bonus: Reason

the Education levels are

-5 Wild /none education, +0 school drop out

+5 Pass high school

+10 trade school 1 year

+15 Military/ Longer Trade school

+20 Bachelors Education

+25 Doctorate Education

So Assuming our example person has oh at least Bachelor Education, IQ 18 +20 is 38 .. Incredible 38 Reason.

IQ: + Perception Bonus: Intuition

Perception Bonus, A new stat is basically adds +1 per 2 points above 15. This is increased by Racial abilities, and in any case, perception rules were printed in Nightbane/nightspawn RPG) Perception increases by +1 at levels 1, 3,5,9,12,15 IQ 18 would at least lead to +2 Perception bonus from IQ, +3 more from level, so his Total intuition would end up being +23 Excellent range.

ME+MA / 2 = Psyche

ME and MA are Mental Endurance and Mental Affinity. These stats are used for dealing with others and Resisting mental influences. An 18+18 leads to Psyche of 18. Optionally, you may want to add power or racial bonus to save vs. insanity or Psionics to this score.

MA + PB/2 = Popularity

PB is Physical Beauty. Just add then convert straight to popularity. A PB of 18 and MA 18 would average to 18 Popularity. This leaves a MAx of 30 Popularity, and Well you may want to again increase this number depending on the Reputations, actions, etc. as normal.

Wealth is based on Salary.

Figure their salary if any based on starting credits, or whatever they can get their hands on. Rarely will anyone ever have access to more than Amazing resources. (the exceptions would be those who run or work for Mercenary companies or operate government front ends)

Well for Attack powers, they will end up having Varying ranks for Range, Damage, etc. Rank is Basically determined by Rounding Maximum damage to the nearest 5th so a 3d6 energy attack turns to an excellent Rank Attack.

Let's look at a Typical Attack power in palladium. The Energy bolt, it does 4d6, 5d6 on a leyline, 6d6 on a nexus. In marvel it would do 24 (Excellent ) energy damage, or 30 (Remarkable) on a Dragon Road/Leyline, or Incredible (36) on a Dragon Crossroad, Leyline Nexus.

Range is only 200 ft, or so, so it basically has a 4-area Range. (well within Excellent Rank range)

Convert Ranges directly.

Figure 1 Area per 80ft of range.

Other kinds of bonuses turn to Hyper: (blank) powers with SDC type bonuses turning 2 SDC turns to 1 marvel point ... A +3 SDC bonus adds +1. a +60 SDC turns to +30 ..

SDC 30 means +15.

+15 points can be used to goto Things like Natural resistance or some other power.

Speed powers: 1 marvel point per 1.5, 15, or 30, or 300MPH.

For (underwater, Land, Air, Mach)

Armor Rating -5, x base SDC /4 determines Resistance, and Material Strength (AR 14 (-5) =9, SDC 120 /4= 30 So a resistance: material strength of Incredible: 39

Stat bonuses generally add +1CS per Dice of increase. Stat Bonuses are either already added to stats, or at lead to Column shifts.

BTW... you may Further want to Divide ranks by 2 to get an Accurate RIFTS stat to marvel. My system just ups them a 21 would reduce to an 11, Cause an 18 is near top, but it's not the top IQ for A human in RIFTs. That would be a 24...Though.. it may be better to Either half Either the IQ or the Education bonus for finding out Reason. The System typically creates marvel beings with Stats in 20's and 50's which is the same range for Altered humans in marvel.

A .45 Pistol in Palladium does 4d6. my system would convert that to Excellent damage. which is a bit much so You may want to further reduce part or the whole stats in question by half to get Accurate numbers (this case it would be a 12)

A stat of 18 +5 Bonus can be done like half the Palladium stat + Bonus category.

an 18 would turn to a 9. a 20 to a 10. A 30 to a 15, a 60 to a 30.. a 11 to 6, a 9 to 5, a 28 to 14. Though in some Categories, it doesn't really hurt to have a stat convert higher or lower if it was in a different position: (a 30 PS is Exactly Equivalent to a 30 in marvel.. . a 30 IQ is however an IQ of 300 which is way superhuman and would probably rank at least Amazing. In Palladium the Smartest of gods has an IQ of 42 (420).. an IQ of 25 (250) easily equals a Supercomputer.

In Palladium mutated humanoids can have an IQ of 100 (1000) and they only use such IQ's to mentally map out the Universe in space/time coordinates. IQ's of 16million like Brainiac does in DC are unfathomable in Palladium terms and would end up being reduced to a more meaningful number.

The bonuses would /should be the same so the 18+5 Intuition Example would reduce down from EX 23 to a GD 14 If you want characters to be Correctly scaled, use half of the original Palladium value. If you want these characters to compete evenly against the Average marvel Superhero or Villain.. use the higher range.
