First Appearance: Forever People vol. 1 #1 (February-March 1971)

History: Highfather, patriarch of the planet New Genesis, selected five human children, each from different eras of Earth’s history, and brought them to his planet. They were raised as friends and companions and became known as the Forever People.

They were given a living computer known as a Mother Box, and somehow acquired the protection of an extraordinarily powerful being known as the Infinity Man. Ordinarily the Infinity Man resides in a distant, unknown part of the cosmos, but by touching their Mother Box and saying the word "Taaru," the Forever People can temporarily exchange places with him.

The Forever People are free-willed and noble. From their New Genesis upbringing, they all acquired the desire to fight against evil. From their Earth origins, they gained free, idealistic spirits that allow them to adjust to different lifestyles and opposing opinions. They will not normally kill or initiate violence, and are ever youthful in appearance and action.

Darkseid, the ruler of Apokolips, captured Beautiful Dreamer and took her to Earth. After the Forever People rescued her they decided to remain on Earth to investigate life there as well as guard it from Darkseid’s schemes.

(Forever People vol. 1 #11) - The Forever People clashed with Darkseid and his minions on numerous occasions. Ultimately Darkseid sent his agent Devilance the Pursuer to hunt them down. To save themselves, they exchanged places with Infinity Man, who was currently resting on the planet Adon. Infinity Man was temporarily destroyed in the battle with Pursuer, leaving the Forever People trapped on Adon.

Adon turned out to be a paradise, and Mark Moonrider decided to civilize the native population. Vykin used the Mother Box to increase the intelligence of the population, but it overloaded and he was killed. The people of Adon founded the idyllic Forevertown, with Mark Moonrider as mayor. Soon Mark married a native named Mina and had three children, and Beautiful Dreamer was pregnant with Big Bear’s child.

Serifan became possessed by evil entities named the Dark, who have attempted to corrupt humanity throughout the ages. The Dark reversed time; Dreamer was no longer pregnant and Mina was again a savage. The only upside was that Vykin miraculously returned to life. The Infinity Man and Mother Box returned in time to save the Forever people from the Dark, but Mina was killed in the battle.

The Forever People returned to Earth at Mother Box’s request. Big Bear and Dreamer recently had a child, who they named Maya. The infant has manifested unusual intelligence, the ability to speak, and superhuman powers.

When last seen, Maya had died and Beautiful Dreamer was pregnant again. It is not known if the Infinity Man will return if summoned, or if Darkseid or Highfather have any knowledge of these events.
