History: Johnny Domino was a successful jazz musician who was struck by the infamous San Francisco cable car that had, in turn, just been struck by the Jumpstart Effect and lost control. Johnny survived, although a piece of shrapnel was forever lodged in his head. This shrapnel had destroyed the sleep center of Johnny's brain, eliminating the need for sleep. He later discovered that he had gained the ability to hear the evil thoughts of others. He initially believed this to be a result of the shrapnel, but later decided he too had been affected by the Jumpstart Effect. Johnny became the Night Man, an ever-evolving hero determined to take back the night from the criminal and corrupt.
