Regardless of what most people think rats make excellent pets. People
assume rats are dirty and smelly and mean, disease ridden pests, so they
go and get some stupid hamster. I've known too many people who've
been bitten by hamsters but almost none who have been bitten by a rat.
The most common occurances of biting rats are the albinos because they
tend to be stupid. If you buy a rat don't get the white ones because
they're bred as feeders, and they're all inbred which makes them less intelligent
and more prone to diseases. And let me also state that domesticated
rats carry no human transmittable diseases unless you keep your pet rat
outside. So if you get a good rat (which most of them are) they're
extremely friendly and social creatures that love people. So, yeah.
Go buy a rat.

Well there isn't a whole lot you need to know if you want a rat.
All you have to do is feed them, give them water and buy them a nice cage.
And you'll probably be cleaning out that cage quite often, but the most
important thing is to play with them. Don't get a rat if your goning
to ignore it because it won't be a happy rat, and unhappy rats don't like
people, unless they're chewing on them.
I feed my rats this little mix of stuff I get from the pet store.
Most pet stores have a rodent mix. And I also get these funny little
cubes that I forget what they're called. And another thing; rats
need hard stuff to chew on. They sell a lot of things like that a
pet shops, because if they don't keep their teeth ground down they'll just
keep growing until they grow right through their head, and that wouldn't
be pleasant.
